A St. Joseph woman who allegedly jumped bail in April in two separate burglary cases is back in custody.

As we reported, Shannon Schremser disappeared April 27, when she was scheduled for court appearances. Associate Judge Keith Marquart and Circuit Judge Daniel Kellogg each revoked Schremser’s bond and issued bench warrants for her arrest.

According to online records, Schremser, 21, was arrested Monday and booked into the Buchanan County Jail Monday evening.

Court records do not yet reflect new dates for the postponed hearings.

Schremser, along with Jeff Pendleton of Union Star, were both charged with burglary after police say they searched her house and found stolen items, including a Lexus, taken during a burglary in the 2300 block of Mansfield Road.

A day after posting bail in that case, Schremser was charged with burglary again. In that case, authorities said she was found in possession of financial documents belonging to a man’s deceased wife which were reported missing in a home burglary Feb. 17 at a home on S.E. Horn Road

Crews are working to contain a water main break at the intersection of 7th and Highland avenue in St. Joseph.

According to Sgt. Brett Kelley with the St. Joseph Police Department, the break was reported around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday. Highland Avenue is closed from St. Joseph Avenue west to 7th Street until further notice due to significant amounts of water in the road.

Traffic was also blocked at St Joseph Avenue at Moss St. and at Grand Ave.

Access to the Second Harvest Community Food Bank from St. Joe Ave. was blocked but officials with the food bank said the incident did not disrupt their normal routine.

Motorists were streaming through the neighborhood to get around the mess. By 8:00 a.m. water was flowing over the curb and across St. Joseph Ave. into the parking lot of a nearby car wash and convenience store.

The St. Joseph School District announced there will be no school at Lafayette High School Tuesday due to the water main break.

By about 9 a.m. the geyser subsided as officials were able to shut down the water flow. They continued to drain water from the surrounding pipes from a nearby fire hydrant. A large pool of water remained as work got underway to repair the damage.

Walk marks 10-year disappearance of Belton teen Kopetsky

park-life-2251981_960_720KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Walkers have turned out to mark the 10-year anniversary of a teen’s disappearance as her family waits to learn the identity of a skull found last month in rural western Missouri.

The Kansas City Star reports that the Sunday walk in Belon for Kara Kopetsky drew at least 100 people. Kopestsky was 17 on May 4, 2007, when she vanished from Belton High School. Her family was notified last month after two sets of human remains were found in Cass County.

One set was identified as those of Jessica Runions, of Raymore, Missouri. She was last seen leaving a gathering with Kylr Yust, who was later charged with burning Runions’ vehicle. A judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Yust also has been questioned in Kopetsky’s disappearance.
