A 21-year-old Trenton man is accused of entering a home through a garage door he hit with his truck then leaving the scene of the accident.

Dylan Hobbs is charged in Grundy County with a felony for first-degree property damage and a felony for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

According to Trenton Police Chief Tommy Wright, on Saturday, November 21st, 2015, officers responded to the 2000 Block of Fisherman in reference to a report of an intruder in the residence. Wright said officers were advised that the intruder had fled the scene in a red truck.

“Officer noted that the suspect had gained entry into the home by striking the garage door with his truck and then entering through the unlocked garage/home entry door. The suspect fled through the same doors,” Wright said. “The victim indicated that the suspect left after being confronted.”

He said the officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later in the 3700 block of Lake Trenton Drive. The vehicle, which had damage to the front of it, was parked in front of and owned by the resident.

“Attempts to contact the residents of the home were initially to no avail. Officers could observe a suspect matching the description of the suspect, but they could not get a response as the suspect was apparently sleeping.” Wright said. “Officer later obtained a search warrant for the residence and the vehicle. Upon entry into the home they contacted the suspect, a Dylan Matthew Hobbs, W/M 21 years old, intoxicated and sleeping.”

Hobbs was initially taken to Wright Memorial Hospital for processing and to have blood drawn for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was later taken to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Detention Center for booking.
