The St. Joseph Police Department has identified the officers involved in a shooting on Dec. 29th that resulted in a man’s death.

As previously reported, at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Dec 29th, officers went to the 1000 block of South 12th to search for a person with warrants. During the search, the officers encountered another person who threatened with a firearm.

Christopher L. Kelley, 42, was shot by officers and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

According to Capt. Jeff Wilson with the police department, the officers were Officer Matt Kneib, a 17-year veteran, and Officer Brett Sagel, a two-year veteran.

Wilson said both have returned to work and are currently on administrative assignment. The incident is being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The City of St. Joseph has released its Food Safety Inspections for the month of December 2018.

PLATTE COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 1:30a.m. Monday in Platte County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Ford passenger vehicle driven by Matthew C. Tate, 19, was westbound on Route N and failed to negotiate a curve at Naylor Road. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Pontiac driven by Aaron L. Lancaster, 31, Platte City.

Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Frontier Forensics. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.

Tate was transported to North Kansas City Hospital.

(Missourinet) – Missourians who opened up their households in 2018 by using home sharing company Airbnb earned $48 million. That’s an increase from 2017’s $28.8 million in the Show-Me State.

The company says Missouri hosts earned an annual average of $5,500 dollars in extra income last year by providing temporary stays for roughly 483,000 guests.
A press release from Airbnb says more than 4,500 Missouri hosts share their homes via the platform.

The top Missouri places driving guest stays last year included St. Louis with $14.4 million, Jackson County with $12.5 million, and Taney County, which includes Branson, with $5.1 million.

St. Joseph police are investigating after another shooting injured a person Thursday night.

According to police, at 9:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6200 block of Washington St. on a report of shots fired. On scene, officers did not locate any evidence but a vehicle was seen leaving the scene at high speed. Several minutes later, it was reported that a person was at Mosaic Life Care with a gunshot wound. After speaking with them, it was determined a shooting did occur on Washington St.

Police say there is a male suspect, but no one is in custody as of Friday morning.
