Temps in the 60s over the weekend

Temperatures will undergo large swings over the next few days as a series of fronts move through the area. Despite some passing rain showers and an isolated thunderstorm, Saturday and Sunday should bring some nice temperatures before a more prolonged period of below-normal temperatures early to mid-next week. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Fog this morning with temps reaching the 50s

Dense fog will be possible across the area this morning occasionally reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less. Caution should be used when driving. Foggy conditions should improve by 9 a.m. The rest of the day, expect cloudy conditions with occasional drizzle and the slight chance for light rain. Highs today will be cooler in the upper 50s across northern Missouri and northeastern Kansas where a cold front will move through earlier in the day. Further south across central Missouri and east central Kansas, highs will reach the mid to upper 60s. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Temps in 50s and 60s through Saturday

Temperatures are expected to be all over the place over the next week. Today will remain below normal but will be significantly warmer than yesterday with highs in the 50s. Temperatures will continue to warm on Thursday with highs in the upper 50s north to near 70 south. A cold front will move through on the day Thursday making for another cooler than normal day on Friday with showers possible later in the day and evening. Temperatures will then warm again through the weekend with highs reaching the upper 60s to upper 70s by Sunday. Mostly sunny and breezy today with temps near 50

There could be a few light showers around early this morning however beyond that conditions should remain dry until Friday/Friday night. Temperatures today will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s however, it looks like the coldest day of the week will arrive just in time for the trick-or-treaters with highs in the low to mid 40s for Halloween. Temperatures then look to warm through Thursday when highs warm into the 60s to near 70. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Freeze warning tonight

Our first freeze of the season is expected tonight as temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s. Any sensitive vegetation will need to be protected or it may be damaged or killed. Some areas will not get a hard freeze tonight however, an area-wide hard freeze is expected tomorrow night with temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 20s. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

One more day of 60s before colder temps this weekend

We have one more day of nice temperatures on Thursday before a fairly long stretch of below normal temperatures through the weekend and into next week. The first freeze of the young fall season is expected to occur Saturday and Sunday, as temperatures across the entire area will drop well below 32 degrees. There could be a slight warming trend for the beginning of next week, but temperatures will remain well below seasonal normals into early next week. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Sunny with temps near 70 through Thursday

After a brief spell of above normal temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will drop to well-below normal for Friday, through the weekend. The coldest temperatures of the season thus far will affect the area, with lows on Saturday and Sunday morning dropping to around 28 to 32 degrees. Light winds will cause wind chill values to drop even further, perhaps reaching the upper teens both mornings this weekend. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service: 

Today: Sunny, with a high near 70. West southwest wind 5 to 14 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.

Windy today with temps in the mid 50s

Northwest winds will be gusting to around 40 to 45 mph through the morning hours, but will gradually decrease through the afternoon hours. Relative humidity values will drop to around 30 to 40 percent, which will bring elevated fire danger. The first widespread freeze of the season is expected later this weekend, with lows on Saturday and Sunday expected to drop to well below freezing. Hard freeze conditions, consisting of lows below 28 degrees is possible north of I-70 in far northern Missouri. Wind chill values on these days could drop into the teens. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

A quiet but more Fall-like week is ahead. Morning temperatures will be chilly this week with lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s so, those jackets will be required. Today will be a windy but seasonable day with Tuesday being a little more cool and blustery.
