Norman Lee Gillis, 87, Rushville, Missouri died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at a health care facility in Easton, Kansas.
He was born February 21, 1926 to Carroll and Hannah (Arrasmith) Gillis in Rushville, Missouri.
He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was also a Barber in Rushville, Missouri.
He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, loved his grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed the loafers at the barbarshop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; son, Brad Gillis; six brothers; and one sister.
Survivors: daughter, Bobbie Smith (Kenneth), Rushville, Missouri; sons, Bruce Gillis, Rushville, Missouri, and Tomm Gillis (Thea), Dekalb, Missouri; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews..
Services: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, Sugar Creek Christian Church. Inurnment Armstrong Cemetery, Rushville, Missouri. Care provided by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Marilyn Joyce Pierce 70, of De Kalb, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013. She was born March 3, 1943 in McFall, MO, daughter of Winifred and Linvell Meadows. She graduated from King City High School and Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Science. She married Bruce Pierce in November of 1973 and they would have been married 40 years this year. She was a Registered Nurse, working as a Psychiatric nurse at the St. Joseph State Hospital, Missouri Methodist Medical Center, the Atchison Hospital. She loved to read mostly mysteries, romance novels and Harry Potter books, she enjoyed needle point and cross-stitch, and watching crimes movies and shows. She was a born caretaker. and a member of the Baptist faith. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include, husband, Bruce Pierce of the home, two sons, Bruce Fetters and wife Kelley of Faucett, MO, and Donald Fetters of St. Joseph, a daughter, Kathleen Fetters-Iossi and husband Todd of West Bend, WI, grandchildren, Morgan, Joshua, Alyson Kenny, Reagan, and Riley, 8 sisters and brothers: Nina Miller of St. Joseph, MO, Donald Meadows of Cameron, June Craven of Olathe, KS, Eddie Meadows of St. Joseph, MO, Curtis Meadows of Austin, AR, Betty Barnes of St. Joseph, MO, Bill Meadows of St. Louis, MO, and Darrel Meadows of St. Joseph, MO.
George Arthur Eslinger Sr. 91, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital. He was born March 14, 1922 in Lincoln, KS, son of Anna and Rolly Eslinger. He worked at Lincoln Grain, Atchison, KS. He was a Christian.
