Ila Mae Fauver

fauverilaIla Mae Fauver 85, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 in a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. She was born August 27, 1927 in Halls, MO, daughter of Beatrice and Robert Matthews.

She married James Matthews July 3, 1945 in Troy, Kansas he precedes her in death. Ila worked at Green Hills Grocery Store 40 years, and at Anderson Erickson Dairy for 20 years. Ila always had a smile for everyone, she never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She also loved music and to dance, she was an excellent cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a former member of the King Hill Baptist Church Baptist.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James H. Fauver, two brothers, James and Ronald Matthews, two sisters, Doris Judah, and Patsy Horine, and a granddaughter, Sharee Brant.

Survivors include, three daughters, Sherry Hovey and (Charles “Cowboy” DuBois), Sandie Fauver of St. Joseph, Pam (Daniel) Chavez of Gardner, KS, a son, Rick Fauver of St. Joseph, MO, 8 grandchildren and spouses, Kelly (Paul) Robreau, Shelly (Dennis) Daffron, Kim (Jarred) Strickbine, Rena (Shawn) Collie, Amber (Darin) Muncey, Mark Gomez, Megan (John) Elder, and J.D. Chavez, 17, great grandchildren, 3, great great grandchildren, two brothers, Lawrence (Shirley) Matthews, and Harold Matthews, two sisters, Arietta (Jerry) Agee, and Shirley (Larry) Westcott, a special friend, Bob Huffman, several, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am, on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Shirley officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery . Martha A. Shipers, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 23, 1929 to James and Marie (Christenham) Hudson in Kansas City, Missouri.

She married Oral Shipers in 1970. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Martha worked as a waitress and cleaned houses. She was a past member of South Park Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Lady’s Auxiliary Post #1668.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jimmy Hudson.

Survivors: children, Mary Martin, Allen Burkeybile; step-son; Kenneth Shipers; brother, Harold Hudson; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Betty Russell Lund, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Betty was born October 10, 1927 in Dora, Missouri the daughter of James C. Russell and Frances Mae Russell.

She married Harry Aaron Lund on May 19, 1950. He preceded her in death in July of 1977.

She was a member of Patee Park Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Heartland Hospital for the American Cancer Society for several years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Rolland Johnson.

Survivors: son, Michael Lund (Grace) of St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter, Nancy Buehler (Chris) of Saratoga Springs, New York; grandson, Jesse Lund (Maddy) of Overland Park, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, Hope and Joshua Lund.

Graveside Service and Interment: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Memorial Park Cemetery. Alma Jean McConnaughey 89, of Troy, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Wathena, KS health care center.

She was born May 26, 1924 in Kansas City, KS, daughter of Mildred and William Roland. She was a homemaker and also retired from Sherwood Medical. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and was a member of the Troy Christian Church.

Alma was preceded in death by husband, George Frederick McConnaughey, 2 daughters, Carol Jean Foley, and Peggy Jo McConnaughey, son in law Jerry Scholz. a sister, Helen Smith and her parents.

Survivors include, son, Kevin McConnaughey of Troy, KS, daughter, Connie Scholz of Atchison, KS, 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer (Travis) Dittemore, Lesley (Levi) Yoder, Kyle (Rachelle) McConnaughey, Michelle (Kelly) Ireland, and Michael (Melissa) Foley.

The family will receive friends from 1-2PM Tuesday, with the funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Troy Christian Church, Troy, Kansas with Rev. Donald Harter, and Pastor Mitchell Morrow officiating.

Joyce Crockett Byrd, 67 of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home.

Joyce was born on February 15, 1946 and raised in St. Joseph. She graduated from Benton High School and received her bachelor and master’s degree in psychology from Missouri Western State University.

She started her career as a Deputy Sheriff at Johnson County Corrections Facility in Olathe, Kansas. She retired in 1995 and returned to St. Joseph.

Joyce married Bradley Gene Byrd on November 9, 1990 in Olathe. He survives of the home.

Additional surviving family includes daughter, Cydney (Troy Rethemeyer) Wilson, son, Eric
Michaels, grandchildren, Dakota, Gaige, Phoenix, Daegun, Jason, Bethany, Alisa and Caleb;
5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Janis Wineinger and Susie Esprit, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amber Michaels, and granddaughter, MaKenna.

Mrs. Byrd has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Faith United Baptist Church from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel to be used by the family.

Berenice Cordry, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home.

Berenice was born on April 22, 1931 in Tarkio, Missouri to Harley and Ella Busby.

Berenice graduated from Lafayette High School, Class of 1949, and worked for Midwest Federal Savings & Loan for 32 years after retiring in 1993 at her position as Association Secretary at Midwest Federal.

She was a member of the A.B.W.A., former member of Savannah Avenue Baptist Church, where she was also a Sunday School Teacher, member of Lafayette Booster Club, a charter member of Green Valley Baptist Church and a loyal St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

She married Dale E. Cordry on April 29, 1949 in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death in 1990, after 41 years of marriage.

Berenice was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Rodger Elliott Cordry, and grandchildren, Amy and Jonathon Cordry.

Surviving family includes sons, Stanley D. and Kevin L. (Char-lane) Cordry, daughter-in-law, Mary E. Cordry, grandchildren, Ryan (Sheetal), Timothy (Teresa), Brandon and Tyler (Tiffany Neill) Cordry and Nicole (Chris) Shutts, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services 1:00 PM Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM Tuesday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to MS Society or to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Clara Mae Holonya, 90, Riverside, California passed away on June 29, 2013 at her home.
Clara was born on August 23, 1922 in Darlington, Missouri to Sherman and Viola (Lee) Duley. .
She married Woodford Clemens on May 7, 1941 and later married Edward D. Holonya on May 31, 1952. They both preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Helen Duley, Anna Eiberger, and Hazel Reece.
Survivors: four children, John Clemens (Carolyn), St. Joseph, Linda Foy (Bob), Jackson, California, Sherri McCracken, Phoenix, Arizona, and Dinah Minkler (Henry), Riverside, California; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Duley, Clarinda, Iowa, and Marvin Duley, Oak Hills, Ohio.

Kathleen Brockett

The never-pretentious Kathleen Brockett went to be with her Lord Thursday night in her home, surrounded by her family. She lived her life in service of others. Kathleen was born in Superior, Wyoming, July 6th, 1931, one of 10 children of immigrant parents. She was raised in Casper, Wyoming, where she graduated high school and worked for the phone company. She later worked as office manager for the Wyoming Credit Corporation. Later Kathleen worked for the St Joseph Public Library; she retired in 1990 after 23 years. She volunteered with CASA for 10 years where she worked with young people. She was a caregiver to three grandchildren and helped mold them in a positive manner for the rest of their lives. They love her profoundly.

She met her husband John Brockett, when he was deployed with the Missouri Air National Guard in Wyoming. They carried on a long distance romance, and were later married at St. Mary Catholic church in St. Joseph. They have celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Christopher, her infant brother, her sisters Martha and Patsy, and her brothers Frank, Joseph, Bill and David.

She is survived by her sisters Nora, Virginia, and brother, Patrick. She is also survived by her husband, John, and her sons, Michael (Nancy), Kennan (Marla), and Todd (Tasha), as well as grandchildren, Cole, Claire and Rachel.

Memorial Mass: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Joseph, Missouri. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Timothy Jefferies, 49, Graham, Missouri died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 26, 1964 to Norman and Jo (Leucht) Jefferies in St. Joseph. Missouri.
He married Angela Wright in 1997. She survives of the home.
Timothy proudly served in the United States Air Force and was an Eagle Scout Tribe of Mic-A-Say. He was also a member of Huffman Methodist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, cooking out, and the outdoors. He loved working on the farm and his family very much. He also loved his grandchildren, especially when they called him “Pappi”.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Additional Survivors: daughters, Gevan and Kendra Jefferies; sons, Timothy and Ruel Jefferies; four grandchildren, Jillian and Jacobby; Abby and Lili; mother; and sisters, Andrea Randolph, Debbie Dameron, and Cindy Terrill.
