She was born March 4, 1917 to William and Mary Bennett in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Nevada married Elmer W. Heinz on March 15, 1958. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1989.
She was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, M. “Dean” Knox in 1954; parents; son, Larry Dean Knox; brother, William; sisters, Jay, Leona, and Willie.

After a brief illness and brave fight Gordon Lemar, 78, Graham, Missouri, passed away peacefully Monday, April 22, 2013, at Laverna Village Nursing Home, Savannah, Missouri with his family at his side.

Gordon was born April 7, 1935, in Craig, Missouri to Russell Milton and Frankie Lucille (Wickiser) Lemar.

A high school graduate of Pickett High School, St. Joseph, he attended Northwest Missouri State University and was a farmer in the Graham community for his lifetime. Gordon enjoyed playing cards, attending activities with his grandchildren, tractor pulls, snow mobiling, and dancing.
He liked to hear and tell a good joke. He loved farming and his cattle and calves.

He married Charlotte Fae Fuston on March 24, 1957, in Graham, Missouri. Charlotte preceded Gordon in death January 20, 2012.

Preceding Gordon in death were his wife, his parents, and a sister Phyllis Tiedeman.

Survivors include son Scott (Cindy) Lemar, Graham, daughter Lori (Kip) Beer, Kansas City, MO, grandchildren Lauren (Mike) Shoener, Zach and Frankie Lemar, sisters Rita Lea Heitman, Smithville, MO, and Rhonda (Roger) Messner, Graham, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins

A visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Graham United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham.

Edith Cathrine Metzgar, 94, Mound City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Tiffany Heights Care Center in Mound City.
She was born December 1, 1918 in Fairfax, Missouri, to Robert and Lila (Curry) Thomson.
Edith graduated from Fairfax High School in 1936. She attended Park College then graduated from Platte-Guard Secretarial School in St. Joseph. She worked at Sunflower Ammunition Plant in the Kansas City, Kansas area. Later she worked for the government at AAA Farm Agency in Mound City.
In 1943 Edith married Edgar L. Metzgar. They made their home on the family farm near Mound City. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Edith was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fairfax and the Fairfax Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, gardening and spending time with her family and their many activities. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert C. Thomson; sisters, Julia Thomson, Helen Lytle, and Esther Thomson; and infant granddaughter, Jenny Leann Metzgar.
Survivors: son, William E. “Bill” Metzgar (Karma), Mound City, Missouri; daughters, Lila Metzgar and Ann Metzgar, Kansas City, Missouri; two granddaughters, Catherine Metzgar, State College, Pennsylvania, and Carina Metzgar, Mound City, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

She was born December 10, 1911 to Joseph and Martha Dougherty in Higbee, Missouri.
Mary B. married Clifford L. Wheeler in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1969.
She graduated from Myers High School in 1929. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the University of Missouri and began her teaching career in a one room school house and later worked for the Fayette and New Franklin School Districts for a total of forty-six years.
Mary B. cherished her daily readings from “Jesus Calling”. Her passion was teaching young children and helping prepare them for their future. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary B. was a member of First Christian Church, Fayette, Missouri, where she was a Deaconess and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution; Charter Member of the Golden Study Club; Past President of PEO, Chapter GG; Order of the Eastern Star; Past President of Howard County Retired Teachers Association; and was active in PTA.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Ozella, Joella, and Eunice.
Survivors: daughter, Patricia Steinbecker (Terry), St. Joseph, Missouri; grandson, Ryan Steinbecker (Shari), St. Joseph, Missouri; great-grandson, Jakob; granddaughter, Teri Lea Cumming (Chris), Grand Rapids, Michigan; great-granddaughters, Carlee and Teagan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Carolyn L. Williams, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri went to her eternal home Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.
Carolyn was born May 11, 1925 in Adel, Iowa, the daughter of Lurentes and Myrtle (Talbott) Morse.
She married Oscar H. Williams, Jr. on June 12, 1948.
Carolyn worked as a photographic retoucher for several studios, as a clerk at United Department store and as a telemarketer. She was also a member of Woodson Chapel Christian Church.
Carolyn loved her family very much and spending time with them, especially during the holidays. She also enjoyed giving her time to charities, having spent time with the March of Dimes and the local food kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Dorothy Kilgore; and nephew, John Sprague.

Forrest Donald Wray, 91, Parnell, Missouri, died Friday, April 12, 2013,  at
Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron, Missouri.

Forrest  was born  May 10, 1921, at Parnell, Missouri to Victor Hubert and
Susie  (Scowden) Wray.  He married Lila D. Knutson on December 24, 1942 in
Maryville, Missouri.

A 1939 graduate of  Harmony High School ,  Forrest was a farmer and was a
member of the Curry Richardson Sparks Waldeier American Legion Post #528,
Parnell, and  the 384th Bomb Group.  In 1970, Forrest  received the Balanced
Farming Award in recognition of his soil conservation practices. He served
on the Northeast Nodway School Board, the Farmers Home Administration Board,
the ASC Board, and the Orrsburg Telephone Board.

He served his country from 1942-1945 in the United States Army Air Force
during World War II.  Campaigns were at Normandy and with the Air Offensive
in Europe with the 384th Bomb Group.

Preceding Forrest in death were his parents,  four brothers  Orville, Elvin,
Lloyd, and Marvin, and two sisters Beulah Swink and Audrey Ditamore.

Survivors include his wife Lila  of their home, sons Vernis (Elaine) Wray,
Fort White, FL, Keith (Karen) Wray, Parnell, MO, Garvin (Jennifer) Wray,
Holiday, FL, daughters Pamela (Larry) Baumli, Skidmore, MO, Sheila (Greg)
Paxton, Maryville, MO,  brother Donnis (Maxine) Wray, and  sister in law
Charlene Wray, Parnell, MO, fifteen grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren,
several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5-7:00 PM Sunday, April 14, at the Price Funeral
Home, Maryville.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, April 15  at Price Funeral Home,
Maryville,  with burial following in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville.

Fannie married Gary Johnson on August 21, 1965. He survives of the home.
She enjoyed the outdoors, especially family camping trips. She was a person who was always to lend a helping hand and very giving and caring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Eileen Marie Siela, 82, Easton, Missouri died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at a local health care facility.
She was born April 28, 1930 to Chester E. and Olive L. (Sawyer) Marshall.
She married Robert E. Siela, April 18, 1953.
Eileen graduated from Union Star High School in 1948, following that she received her beauty license from Castor’s Beauty School and was employed at Westab.
Mrs. Siela was the leader of Catholic Youth Organization at Seven Dolors, where she was also President of the Altar Society. Eileen volunteered for The United Way and was a Cub Scout Leader.
However first and foremost she was a farmwife. She raised calves, chickens, turkeys, loved to garden and she was the best cook around for miles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Karl, Dayle and Darrel Marshall.
Survivors: husband; daughter, Carol Wright; son, Tim Siela; grandchildren, Charles Wright, Chad Wright, Natalie Wright-Newman, and Chantell Pennington (Tony); great-grandchildren, Aklen, Macie, and Jaxsen; brothers, Junior Marshall, Coen Marshall (Renee), and Lloyd Marshall (Jean); and sisters, Mildred Winter, Twila Tabler, and Betty Lyon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris Eileen Strickland, 90, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at a healthcare center in Westminster, Colorado.
She was born October 1, 1922 to Joseph M. and Lilly M. (Reinert) Edwards.
She married John Wrayman “Dynamite” Strickland in May, 1949.
Doris served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army as a registered nurse during WWII. She was a homemaker until her children were in school at which time she resumed her nursing career at Missouri Methodist Hospital.
Mrs. Strickland was a member of Hyde Valley Methodist Church and Carnegie Culture Club. She was an accomplished ceramics artist, a seamstress, and she enjoyed gardening, specializing in beautiful flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Strickland; daughter, Cheryl Hallman; two sisters, Erma and Thelma; and two brothers, George and Joseph.

Charles married Deborah Cheng on April 11, 1998. She survives of the home.
He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as an Engineer for sixteen years. He was anxiously awaiting for mushroom season as that was always a favorite time of year.
Charles enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, along with fishing with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors: wife; daughter, Collette; step-sons, Allen Wilkinson (Megan) and Daniel Wilkinson; mother; brother, Ronald L. Sullivan; sister, Donna M. Ashworth; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Molly.

Randy Lee Swinford, 57 of Maryville, Missouri died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at St Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri.

Randy was born March 7, 1956 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Jack and Eldora Mae (Weakley) Swinford, Sr.

Randy was married to Amanda Meyer, October 29, 2008 in Maryville.

Randy was a graduate of Maryville High School, and also had an Associates degree in Computers and Office Management. Before retirement Randy was the Transportation Director for Maryville R-II Schools, continuing to drive for the district after retirement.

A veteran, Randy served in the United States Air Force from 1978-1986.

He was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville and a member of the Nodaway Lodge #470 AF & AM.

He was preceded in death by brother, Kenton Paul Swinford and his parents.

Surviving are his wife Amanda, of the home, Maryville, son, Christopher Swinford, Des Moines, IA, daughter, Abby Swinford, Mount Angel, OR, brothers, Mark (Twila) Swinford and Jack Lee (Kimberly) Swinford both of Maryville, MO and Robert (Terri) Swinford, Greenwood, MO, sister, Karen (Ron) Leader, Maryville, four grandchildren, Sadie, Aliyah, Kordell and Jaydon, and numerous neices and nephews.

She was born February 2, 1924 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended the 9th grade graduation at Benton High School and was a graduate of Fort Scott, Kansas High School and College in 1942. She also attended the former Platt-Gard Business College.
On September 8, 1946 she married William “Billy” F. Smith. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Mary was formerly employed by Wyeths’ Hardware, Artesian Ice, Methodist Medical Hospital, and Bender’s Personal Care.
She was a member of Savannah Avenue Baptist Church of Gleaners Class, Pinochle Club, Golden Agers, and a Helper for Wednesday night dinners and Fellowship worship.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ivyal L. “Babe” Irwin, Sr. and Hazel M. Copeland; daughter, Pamela Smith; and brother, Ivyal L. Irwin, Jr.
Survivors: son, Forrest Smith (Marcene); two grandchildren, Dayna Zorn (Michael) and Aaron Smith; two great – grandchildren, Adriana and Dayton; sister, Yvonne Holland; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister- in-law, Mable Smith.

William Marvin Cantrell, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, April 7, 2013.
He was born January 31, 1935 in Fulton, Mississippi.
William was a Korean War veteran and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Jennings; daughter, Lila Orozco; four brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors: children, Mary Plante, James Jennings, Joe Cantrell, Bernice Cantrell, Aaron Cantrell, Mike Cantrell, Vickey Guzman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and sisters, Quela Faye Hallmark, Dolly Beers, and Gennelle Cornett.

Richard C. “Dick” Hinkle, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Cameron Hospital in Cameron, Missouri.
He was born October 20, 1926 to Russell A. and Eva Barker Hinkle in Craig, Missouri. Beginning at the age of ten he was raised by I. Ervin and Eva Ramseier.
Dick married Jeannine Ann Jones on July 20, 1948. She survives of the home.
He was in the United States Navy and a veteran of World War II, and retired from Affiliated Foods after thirty-five years.
Dick was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #571, Ducks Unlimited, St. Mary School Board President, Bishop LeBlond High School Booster Club, and a Marshal at Fairview Golf Course.
He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed company and time with his family. Dick and Jeannine celebrated sixty-four years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, David C. Hinkle.
Survivors: wife; children, Barbara Scott (Mike), Alex Hinkle (Becky), Julie McKay (John), Eric Hinkle, Michelle Hinkle and daughter-in-law, Stena Hinkle; grandchildren, Jody Wunschel (Pete), Andy Scott (Lori), Melissa Winn (B.J.), Andrea Grable (Todd), Mandy Lemmon (Cory), David Charles Hinkle, Richard Hinkle (Amy), Elizabeth Hoddick (Brett), Stephen Hinkle, Nicole Boeh (Brandon), John Patrick, Lindsay and Riley McKay, and Korbin Hinkle; and ten great-grandchildren.

Billie Dean Melvin, 78, Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Hopkins, Missouri died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.

Billie was born September 26, 1934, in Gravity, Iowa to James Woodford andInez Ruth (Booze) Melvin. He married Barbara Sue Wolf on June 14, 1953, in Hopkins.

A graduate of Hopkins High School, Billie was an appliance service repairman with the Maytag Company.

Billie was a member of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Charter member of the FFA, the Lion’s Club, and Volunteer Fire Department, all of Hopkins.

Preceding him in death were his parents and son Roger Dean Melvin (May 5, 1987).

Survivors are his wife Barbara Sue Melvin of their home, son Ron (Cindy) Melvin, Pleasant Hill, IA, Rob (Joy) Melvin, Algona, IA, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Orville (Mary) Melvin,
Liberty, MO, four sisters: Phyllis (Homer) Ulmer, Hopkins, MO., Norma Wuester, Victoria, British Columbia, Evelyn Watts, Boise, ID., Helen (John) Marriott, Clearmont, MO., nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Hopkins, MO.

Funeral Services will be 10:30, Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church with burial following in Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri.
