John M. Chavez, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his home. He was born May 23, 1942 to Jesse and Esperanza Chavez in St. Joseph, Missouri. John married Jeanne Allen on June 11, 1966. To this union two children, Tyson and Tara, were born. He graduated from Christan Brothers high School in 1960 and William Jewell in 1965. As a student at St. Joseph Junior College he won two individual national championships and one relay. His record for the 880-yard run stood for sixteen years at Jewell. John will be remembered for his 48 years of teaching and coaching. John taught school and served as a translator and track official in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, 1992 games in Barcelona, and 1996 games in Atlanta. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, a former president of Little United Nations Club, and a member of the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coach Association Hall of Fame in 1996. John was preceded in death by his father. Survivors: son, Tyson Chavez, Platte City, Missouri; daughter, Tara Reed (David), Platte City, Missouri; grandchildren, Austin Sanderson, Ashley Sanderson, and Emma Reed; mother, Esperanza Martinez (Gus); brothers, Jesse Chavez (Lois), Larry Chavez (Linda), Daniel Chavez (Pam), and Tom Chavez (Marolyn); sisters, Dolores Meyers (Walt), Ramona Atkinson (Bill), Margaret Imm (Ladd), Frances Wahlert (Craig), and Mary Merritt (Steve); and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis J. “Cookie” Brown, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 13, 1929 to Myron Evans and Etta Mae (Wheeler) Everett in King City, Missouri.
Phyllis married David Lee Brown on March 20, 1948, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and worked at Stetson Hat. She was also a very active member of Copeland Baptist Church and enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and watching her boys play sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Brown; sister, Margie Cooper; and brother, Ben Everett.
Survivors: husband; sons, Rickey Brown (Sandy) and Danny Brown (Lori); grandsons, Tyler, Travis, and Todd; granddaughters, Lani and Mollie.

Mary L. Halverson, 93, died Wednesday night, March 20, 2013, at her home in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was born April 19,1919 in Crab Orchard, Nebraska to Carl and Mamie Bailey and was raised in Pawnee City, Nebraska. In 1936 she was named Miss Pawnee City. She became an accomplished pianist and accompanied at school concerts, events, and weddings. Her renditions of Prelude in C Sharp Minor, Moonlight Sonata, Clair de Lune, and Mack the Knife among many others were memorable. Mary also enjoyed playing the organ and was church organist for a time at Brookdale United Presbyterian Church. She attended the University of Nebraska and became a lifetime Husker fan.
Mary married Walter L. Halverson in May 1940. They were married 68 years until his death in 2008. During Walter’s military career, Mary and Walter resided in Nebraska, Ft. Riley, Kansas, Lake Quivira, Kansas, and Nuremberg, Germany among other places before settling in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1954.
Mary was an excellent seamstress and knitter and has generously provided pot holders, baby hats, and knitted creations to multitudes of family, friends, and charities.
She was a wonderful mother and homemaker and well-known for her old-fashioned recipes and home-cooked treats as well as her past involvements as school room-mother, Young Matrons, PTA, and making many dance recital costumes and doll clothes creations.
Known for her snappy humor, witty quips and stories, Mary has been a well-liked friend, neighbor, and confidante to many over the years. She will be terribly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Bailey; and son-in-law, David Frey.

Derald  “Bud” Eugene Foster

Derald  “Bud” Eugene Foster, 84, Graham, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, died Friday, March 22, 2013,  at his home.

Bud was born March 18, 1929, in Chillicothe, Missouri to the late Ephram Hardin  and Sara Kathryn (Moore) Foster.

He married Eldora F. (Cox) Foster on August 09, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri.  She preceded him in death December 1, 1973.

He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army from1946 to 1950  during World War II.

Bud was a construction and iron worker for over 30 years, a member of the  Labor Local 579, St. Joseph, Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Boy Scouts of America.  As a young man he worked for 17 years on the Missouri River as a tugboat deck hand.

Bud is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 2 PM, Monday, March 25 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri. The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 1:15 PM.

Jacquetta Seevers, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, March 18, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born November 20, 1927 to Sam and Lillian Schaeffer in Forest City, Missouri.
Jacquetta married J.B. Seevers on May 4, 1946. He survives of the home.
She worked at J.C.Penney Department Store. She was a member of Woodson Chapel Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also helped with Cub Scouts and PTA, and was a strong supporter for both the cancer and arthritis foundations,
Jacquetta was an artist who enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, reading, and fishing, especially trout fishing in Bennett Springs. She was a very encouraging and loving lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and six brothers.
Survivors: husband; daughter, Carrol Watkins; sons, Daniel Seevers (Roberta), and Stephen Seevers (Kathy); nine grandchildren; five great- grandchildren, with two more on the way; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Sam Schaeffer; and sisters, Pansy Weyer and Margie Heken.

He was born July 24, 1936 to Oliver and Reva Dennison in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Maitland High School and proudly served in the United States Army.
Jim married Patricia Gatrel on December 5, 1959. She survives of the home.
Jim retired from Friskies after thirty years. He was a member of Church of the Brethren, spent ten years doing disaster service with the church, and taught Sunday school for over forty years.
Jim enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Viola and Esther; and one brother, Gary Dean.
Survivors: wife; sons, James Dennison and Jerry Dennison; sisters, Claudia Smith and Iola Dennison; brother, John Dennison; and one grandson, Garrett Dennison.

Jean married Henry Mattice, Sr. on June 22, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1993. She later married Edward Atkins on April 14, 2007. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2010.
She worked as a seamstress at Body Guard for nineteen years and later as a CNA at Benders for 8 years.
She was a very committed and active member of King Hill Christian Church and Kirschner Community Church. She was the PTA president where she was active in 4H.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; six brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors: daughters, Barbara Lanham (Butch), St. Joseph, Cherie Crockett (Chuck), St. Joseph, Peggy Bouge (Carl), Agency, Missouri, and Judy Monaghan (James), St. Joseph, Missouri; sons, Andy Mattice (Jeanette), and Ronald Mattice (Sherry), both of St. Joseph; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Mae (Putnam) Trout, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life Monday, March 18, 2013 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was born on a farm west of Bedford, Iowa on October 31, 1926 to Virgil and Mary (Livingston) Putnam.
Margaret attended the Bedford Public Schools and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1944. She took normal training in high school and after graduating she taught in a one room school for two years. In 1946 she attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville where she met her college sweetheart Don Trout who was with a group of World War II Veterans attending college on the G.B. Bill. They were married on June 6, 1948 in the Bedford Methodist Church. To this union was born Robert Lynn and James Donald.
Following their marriage, she taught 1st and 2nd grades in Bedford. Margaret and Don taught in Galt and Osborn, Missouri before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri where she taught at Mark Twain, Hall, and Pershing schools. She was an excellent Kindergarten teacher and was able to manage large classes of “baby boomers.” She was an accomplished violinist having played in high school and college orchestras.
Mrs. Trout was a member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Joseph where she sang in the Chancel Choir, taught Sunday School, served on numerous committees, and was past president of the United Methodist Women group, the Guy Harden Sunday School class, and Past President PEO Chapter HC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, James Donald.

Mr. Taylor was a psychiatric aide for 21 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Knights of Phythius.

Godsey, LucilleA. Lucille (Smith) Godsey, 95, Skidmore, MO went to join her Lord and Savior and beloved husband of 43 years on March 19, 2013 at the home of her daughter after a brief illness.

Lucille was born June 21, 1917 near Fairfax, MO to Almar B. and Carrie D. (Ruddell) Smith. She had one older brother and a younger sister both deceased. Lucille married Elbert H. Godsey on April 5, 1941 in Omaha, NE. Elbert preceded her in death on August 3, 1984. Four daughters were born of this union.

Lucille lived most of her youth in rural Atchison County near Fairfax. At the young age of fourteen she began driving four head of mules doing field work for her father and neighbors when her older brother was called to serve in World War II. She was a graduate of Daleview High School located in Atchison County Missouri in 1935. Her class was the 17th class to graduate from Daleview, there were 17 in her class and they graduated on the 17th day of May (facts Lucille proudly shared). Lucille attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, MO for 2 years then taught in one-room schoolhouses in Atchison County until her marriage.

As a couple Lucille and Elbert enjoyed square dancing and pattern ballroom dancing for many years. She was an avid reader, owning many volumes of paperback books. Lucille was a 4-H leader for many years teaching cooking and sewing. She was a member of Skidmore United Methodist Church and the Skidmore Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron and several other offices. She was an original member of the Merry Moments Bridge Club, playing bridge with the club for the last time on January 18, 2013.

She was an outstanding cook and seamstress. Many in the community and county enjoyed her homemade donuts and cinnamon rolls. She was known as the “Bread Lady” to youth of the Skidmore United Methodist Church as she always made bread and home-churned butter for Bible School. Having 4 daughters she kept busy making all their clothes and the doll clothes. Lucille created many beautiful square dance dresses and evening wear for the dancing she and Elbert did. She enjoyed all kinds of handwork. In the later years knitting and crocheting seemed to be her favorites. Many lucky individuals were the recipients of her hand-made items.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Lester B. Smith, Rock Port, MO and sister, Jeanne I. Woerpel, state of CA.

Surviving are daughters Nora (George) Bayless, St. Joseph, MO, RoAnne (Jerry) Solheim, Maryville, MO, Phyllis (Larry) Cole, Union Star, MO, and Karol Godsey, Omaha, NE. Grandchildren Twyla Bayless, St. Joseph, MO, Tanora (David) Earnhardt, Springfield, MO, Brent Sisk, Cainsville, MO, Michelle (Roy) Nolan, St. Joseph, MO, Carrie (Rob) Sparks, Maryville, MO, Scott (Leesa) Cole, St. Joseph, MO. Great-grand children Rachel, Grace, and Molly Earnhardt, Springfield, MO, Kendra (Rodney) Sisk Heller, Albuquerque,

Ronda Jeanne Wilson, 71, Bolckow, Missouri, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Ronda was born Friday, October 17, 1941, in Maitland, Missouri to John William and Gladys Laverne (Keller) Faulk.

A graduate of Maryville High School, Ronda married William Joseph Wilson, June 17, 1962, in Maryville, Missouri who preceded her in death.

Rhonda was a tooling inspector at Eveready Battery Corperation.

Ronda was a member of the First Christian Church, Maryville, Mo.

Preceding in death were her parents and her husband.

Survivors include her children daughter Rebecca Norris, Portage, MI son Jeffrey (Jennifer) Wilson, Bolckow, MO a brother Dan Faulk, Mesa, AZ, and grandsons Joseph and Graham Norris, Josh (Destany) Wilson and great grandson London Wilson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Nodaway Nursing Home for the loving care and compassion they provided. Also, thanks to Ascera Care for the recent comfort care.

A visitation will be held 5-7:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Marie (Holding) Turner, 95, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born March 14, 1918 to James and Mary Holding in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Marie was a 1935 graduate of Benton High School. Her senior year she was “Miss Benton” and named to National Honor Society. She graduated from St. Joseph Junior College in 1937 and Maryville State Teachers College in 1939. While there she was honored in Who’s Who Book of America and a member of 1939 Royalty. She went on to teach physical education at Chillicothe High School.
She married Carl E. Turner of St. Joseph in 1940 and became a co-owner of Turner Plumbing and Heating. They shared a loving, devoted marriage for fifty-six years.
Mrs. Turner was a Girl Scout leader, home room mother, and active PTA member. She was also active in the St. Joseph Boat Club, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Y Women, Sewing Club, Stroke Club, Pearl Chapter OES, Bosian Eastern Star, Promenaders Square Dance and So-Dance.
She was passionate about her family and church, a great role model for leading a Christian life. She was proud to be a member of Francis Street First United Methodist Church for ninety-one years (joining in 1922). She also had a passion and ministry for remembering others. She delighted and amazed many by remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions with her cards.
After a major debilitating stroke at age forty-one, she, with the help of Carl, was able to lead a full and productive life and inspire all around her. She had a real joy for living, an amazing spirit and POSITIVE attitude. Her love of people and life will be remembered by all she touched. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, especially her daughters.

Raymond C. Reno, 73, White Cloud, Kansas passed away, March 16, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 7, 1940 to Cecil and Betty (Browning) Reno in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he attended Holy Rosary and Christian Brothers Schools.
On August 4, 1962, he married Shirley Jean (Short) Rhodd. He retired from Armour & Company in 1983 after twenty-eight years of service.
Raymond was a drummer and singer with several bands. He was also well known in sports, especially in bowling. He was City Champion at one time and became a Pro-bowler in 1992 and was inducted into St. Joseph Bowlers Hall of Fame in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Theresa Schlup; and brother, Robert Reno.
Survivors include his loving wife; son, James Rhodd (Linda), two daughters, Kimberly Moore and Kristen Reno; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Ramona Gann (Bryan), Carmen Redmond, and Raelena Petrovick; brother, Alex Rainez (Jean)’ several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loved by many.

Marcella Hopkins on September 24, 1938. They were married for seventy-four years. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2012. He was a member of Savannah First Christian Church, a lifetime member of Elks Club in Falls City, Nebraska, Lions club, Past President & Zone Chairman, the Rider’s Club of Mound City, and Fillmore Lincoln Lodge #138 A.F. & A.M. and he enjoyed playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Roscoe Young; seven sisters, and two brothers. Survivors: son, Lavelle Young (Doti), Savannah, Missouri; daughter, Gayneita Shaw (Eldon), El Paso, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Young (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Kathleen Noble died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her home in Weatherby, Missouri. She was born October 6, 1920 in Gentry County. Katie graduated from Albany High School, then married Franklin Maurice Gibbany in 1939. They made their home and raised their two daughters, Joan and Anita in the Albany area, moving to St. Joseph when he died in 1971. She then married Donald Rex Noble in 1982. They moved to Oklahoma then to Arkansas, moving back to Weatherby, Missouri in 1994. Don died in 1998 and she returned to St. Joseph, Missouri in 2000. Katie started working in homes at the age of fourteen doing general housework and babysitting. She was a waitress at Rheuben Ballard and Frosty’s Café, and later both at the Merchants and New Albany Hotels. She also worked as a clerk at Hardin’s Drug and The Supply Grocery store. First out of high school she worked in the office in the courthouse selling Motor Vehicle licenses, and typed for Old American Insurance. She was a self-taught farmer where she took in laundry, raised and dressed chickens that were delivered to homes and Café’s. They lived in living quarters of Dr. Rose Hospital doing the cooking and cleaning for the hospital. Katie helped milk the cows, wash and bottle and deliver the milk to residences at the Madden dairy. She was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Dorsey Christian Church. She joined the hospital auxiliary doing volunteer work at the Gentry County Hospital after it was built in 1958, later going on the pay roll and working as a nurse’s aide and selling AVON on the side plus traveling to surrounding towns and sampling Pepsi Cola for the Pepsi Company on the weekends. The last two years at the hospital she was not on their payroll as she did special duty and was paid by the patients families. She weighted grain for the government at the M.F.A. for two years, sewed caps at Stanberry at the cap factory for 2 ½ years, and owned and operated two Café’s, one on highway 169 at the Mobil Service station, and the other just off the square in the rear of the Rigney Theatre (Flamingo). For a short length of time she was a bookkeeper at the truck stop in Elwood, Kansas, and then went to Sherwood Medical until she got on at the State Hospital, where she worked for the next ten years. She and Don owned and operated a small Convenient and Feed Store in Rose, Oklahoma, owned and operated a Gift Shoppe on Highway 65 in Harrison, Arkansas. She always wanted to be a country song singer, but never learned to play any kind of an instrument or to carry a tune. Her family would like it known that she composed this obituary herself. She was preceded in death by a brother, Cleo Edgar Myers; parents; a grandson, Chris Caraway; and a sister, Betty Thompson. Survivors: two daughters, Mary Joan Lynch (Lloyd), Savannah, Missouri, and Anita Margaret Caraway, Weatherby, Missouri; Rick Caraway, St. Joseph, Missouri; step-son, Rob Noble, Albany, Missouri; sister, Gertrude Steele, St. Joseph; four grandchildren: Sue, Betsy, Lisa, and Clint (Susan); two step-grandchildren, Nathan and Meagan Noble; ten great-grandchildren: Curt, Jackie, Frankie, Lindsey, Ryan, Corie, Kelsi, Kaden, Kylie and Kamrie ; great-great-grandchildren, Brett, Zach, Jackson, Maddie, and Olivia; and beloved nieces and nephews. Katie wished all of her friends and family to meet at her home for a Celebration of Life Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. The family suggests memorial contributions to Asera Care Hospice. Sharon E. Waggoner, MD, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. He was born October 23, 1921 to Everett and Reva Dolly (Campbell) Waggoner in Dairyland, Wisconsin. He married Marion Francis Kantz in 1941. She survives of the home. Dr. Waggoner served in the Medical Corps, was in Officer Candidate School at the Chemical Warfare Center and United States Army Air Corps, during World War II. He served in the European Theatre and flew 71 missions over Italy, Germany and the Baltic’s. He also served time on a Court Martial Board. Sharon finished as a major after active duty and rose to the rank of Lt. Col. in the Army Air Corps until 1969. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and began his career as a general practitioner and surgeon in 1951 in the south end of St. Joseph retiring in 1998. Sharon was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as an Elder, Southside Rotary Club, Friday Morning Breakfast Club, Buchanan County Medical Association, Buchanan County Health Department as a Health Officer, Ensworth Society, American Medical Association, American Academy of General Practitioners, Missouri State Medical Association and various boards between Methodist Medical Center, Sisters Hospital and Heartland Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Norma Wright. Survivors: his wife, Marion Waggoner; daughter, Marcella E. Hassen (Harlan L., DDS), Liberty, Missouri; son, John Kenneth Waggoner (Laura), Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth and Katherine Lynette Hassen, and Christina Marie Waggoner; and brother, Lee Waggoner (Gladys), Duluth, Minnesota. Mel Clark, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Mel was born in Washington Township, Missouri, in 1920, the son of Roy W. and Goldia Clark who preceded him in death as did his brother, Wilbur, and son-in-law, John Miller. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Elizabeth “Betty”, daughters, Karen Clark, Maureen Miller and son, Dennis, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mel attended State Teacher’s College in Maryville, the University of Missouri, Columbia, Primary Service School in Chicago and Radio Materiel School at Treasure Island, California. He served in the Navy during World War II in both the Pacific and Atlantic. Mel worked as a radio engineer at KDRO, KMA and KFEQ. He was the engineering supervisor at KQTV retiring as chief engineer. In addition, Mel served as the director of the local CBN 700 Club Center and was active in the FGBMFI. He also served in many capacities in his church. He was interested in carpentry, building his own home. “Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” Psalm 100:2 Mel has been cremated under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory; a memorial service is pending. Mary F. Milbourn, 69, Maricopa, Arizona, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at her home. She was born February 4, 1944 to Earnest and Zola Felts in Batesville, Arkansas. Mary married Robert Milbourn on September 22, 1975. He survives of the home. She was a very caring person, was an animal lover, and especially loved her dogs. I. Katherine Bocell, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born August 21, 1921 to Emmanuel N. and Julia Ann (Shepard) Kallaras in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Katherine married her high school sweetheart, James Russell Bocell, Sr. on February 14, 1942. They have celebrated 71 wonderful years together since James first set his sights on her in math class.
Mrs. Bocell, a homemaker and businesswoman, grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School. Later, she attended both Kansas City Kansas Community College and Kansas State University.
Prior to moving to St. Joseph in 1967, Mrs. Bocell was very active in the children’s schools and activities, serving in the PTA as President and in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Katherine also owned and operated The Bo Peep Nursery School & Kindergarten in KCK for 15 years.
Mrs. Bocell was an active member of the First Baptist Church in St. Joseph, singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday School, and she delighted in mentoring women in the Country Club Village Bible Study where she resided. She was involved in the community arts and a member of the St. Joseph Country Club and St. Joseph Benton Club.
Education and mentorship within her family and the community was dear to her heart, and her spiritual and positive guidance has left an indelible mark on all those who were around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Betty Lu Kallaras.
Survivors: husband, James R. Bocell; daughters, Julianne Knittle (George), Olathe, Kansas and Suzanne Bradley (David), St. Joseph, Missouri; son, Dr. James R. Bocell, Jr. (Jeanette), Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren, Scott and Christopher Knittle, James R. Bocell III (Kimberly), Marshall L. Bocell, Benjamin C. Bocell (Heather), Kelley Bocell, Fraser Bocell, Katherine E. Bowlin (David), Stephane S. Bradley, and David Rall Bradley III; two great-grandchildren, James R. Bocell IV and Sara C. March 13, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Saint Joseph,
Missouri.

Gerald was born April 2, 1926 near Conception Junction, Nodaway County, to
Peter Christiansen and Augusta Amelia (Mattson) Pedersen. He married Sue Ann
Coulter May 11, 1951, at Maryville, Missouri.

He was a 1944 graduate of Guilford High School, a member of the Guilford
United Methodist Church, The Tri C American Legion Post #464, Conception
Junction, Missouri, and was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Donald Cleo Pedersen
(1979), grandson Seth Levi Pedersen (2001), and daughters-in-law Diane
Pedersen (2011) and Robin Pedersen (2004), brother Cleo Pedersen, and sister
Mildred Nelson.

Surviving are sons Rick Pedersen, Chris Pedersen, Ronnie (Ellen) Pedersen
Guilford, MO, Martin (Margaret) Pedersen, Stanberry, MO, David (Diana)
Pedersen, and James (Christine) Pedersen, Maryville, MO, and daughter
Nancy (Doug) Hilsabeck, Trenton, MO, 23 grandchildren 24 great
grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Guilford
United Methodist Church with burial following the service at the Graves
Cemetery, Guilford. A visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday, March 17, 2013 at
the Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.

A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the Tri-C American
Legion Post #464, Conception Jct., Missouri.

He was born April 20, 1931 to George and Grace Owsley in Preston, Missouri.
Robert married Helen M. Gentry on May 7, 1954. She survives of the home.
Bob was a member of Gentryville Baptist Church, George Washington Lodge #256, A.F. & A.M., and is a Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Owsley and Ruth Glor; brothers, Bert Owsley and George Owsley.
Survivors: wife; daughter, Deborah Jeffries (James); sons, Jerry Owsley (Pam), Dennis Owsley (Jennifer), and Michael Owsley (Julie); nine grandchildren, LaCinda Ennis, Jim Jeffries, Casey Patrick, Heather Owsley, Shawn Owsley, Clint Owsley, Darian Owsley, Jakki Owsley (Chris Shiflett), Jacey Ramsey (Taylor), and Dakota Owsley; great-grandchildren, Addie Jo Owsley, Tripp Shiflett, Brantley Jeffries, and Kaden Patrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jessamine Wallace Hegarty, 78, Kansas City, Missouri died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born August 7, 1934 to Dr. Charles Hodge Wallace Jr. and Bickley Elizabeth (Smith) Wallace.
She married Roger Allen Hegarty, July 24, 1957. She was a graduate of The Barstow School in Kansas City, Missouri and attended the University of Arizona, where she was in the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
Jessamine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Charles Hodge Wallace III.
Survivors: daughter, Blair Hegarty, Overland Park, Kansas; sons, Cort Hegarty (Tracee), St. Joseph, Missouri and Hodge Hegarty, Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Chase, Hunter, Morgan, and Lily Caudill, and Nick, Sarah, Lane, and Halle Hegarty; cousin, Bickley Bayer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many good friends.

Tobin, John webJohn Francis Tobin, 84, born Oct 8, 1928, died Tuesday March 12, 2013. He had been living at home in Maryville until he moved to the Living Community in St. Joseph, MO in January.

John married Carlotta Hantze on Oct 13, 1951. John farmed all his life at Burlington Junction, MO. He owned and operated the 460 acre home farm. He retired in 1999 and they moved to Maryville. A member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish, John had been a member of St. Benedict’s Parish in Burlington Junction for many years. He was very active in his community, including Burlington Jct. Kiwanis Club, Nodaway County Extension Council, 4-H, scouts, and girls’ softball coach. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight and he was past Chairman of the Nodaway County Pork Producers Association. He volunteered for many years on the planning committee for the Tobin Golf Tournament, which contributed funds to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlotta, in 2006, his parents, Frank and Nora (Kelly) Tobin, and two infant brothers, Kieran and Terrance.

Survivors include his children: Jana Motes, Olathe, KS, Kieran (Jenny) Tobin, Corpus Christi, TX, Marli Tobin, Chicago, IL, Susan Tobin, San Francisco, CA, Mark (Rachel) Tobin, Atlanta, GA, and Paul (Linda) Tobin, Maryville, MO; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Other survivors include his brothers and sister: Father Pat Tobin, Kelly (Irene) Tobin, Maurice (Joan) Tobin, Mary Ellen (Geary+) Mahr, and Father Chuck Tobin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, with burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, with Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made in John’s name to St. Gregory’s School would be appreciated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
