Stinson, Mary Ann. obitphotoMary Ann Stinson 1925-2013 	Mary Ann Stinson, 87, passed away February 1, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 18, 1925 in Pratt, Kansas. She was the daughter of Charles Harold Stinson and Vera (Furse) Stinson. 	Mary Ann was a former teacher at Lafayette High School as well as Gower High School. She graduated from Central High School and St. Joseph Junior College. She left the St. Joseph area in 1971 when she pursued advanced degrees. She worked as a teacher and also was on the library staff at Scottsdale Community College. 	Mary Ann was a charter member of the Alpha XI Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority. She was active in educational and religious groups. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. 	Survivors include a sister, Sue Stinson; a brother, Bob (Barbara) Stinson, both of St. Joseph; three nieces, Suanne (Jim) Turner, St. Joseph, Lisa (Gary) Baugher, Sitka, Ak, and Kimberly (Steve) Armes, St. Joseph. 	He was born August 2, 1922 to Matthew and Mary Barbara (Kern) Schwebach in Clyde, Missouri.
	He married Mary Eulala Kohlleppel January 3, 1945.
	Alphonse was a farmer for over 70 years and also worked at Pettlon Foundry for 10 years.
	Mr. Schwebach was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Stanberry.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene Lager, Mildred Huss and Lucille O’Riley; and brothers, Leo and Bill Schwebach.
	Survivors: wife, Mary Eulala Schwebach; children, Judy Arnold (Johnny), Dorothy Clements (Don), Earl Schwebach (Kathy), Jerry Schwebach (Debbie), Lori Meyer, Sam Schwebach (Debbie) and Roger Schwebach (Denise); sisters, Gertrude Jensen, Teresa Jensen and Bea Luke (Hubert); and 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.

John Ernest Williams 1935-2013 	John Ernest Williams, 77, Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 	He was born February 11, 1935 to William and Elsa Williams in Blue Point, New York. He then moved to St. Joseph, Missouri. 	John married Shirley (Milleson) Williams who preceded him in death, and later married Velma Scroggins. He retired from TWA, at the overhaul base in Kansas City, Missouri. 	He was a member of the Brotherhood Lodge #269, A.F. & A.M. and St. Joseph Lodge #78, A.F. & A.M.; Thirty-Third Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. 	John enjoyed playing golf. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he became a clown for the Shriners and he also drove a van taking children and their families to the Shriners Hospital for Children for treatments. 	He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey; brother-in-law, Jack Wilcox; former wife, Shirley (Milleson) Williams; and wife, Velma (Scroggins) Williams. (Schleicher) Waller. She married Philip Wolfe on May 2, 1964, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1970. She married Gilbert Garrett on June 30, 1979.. Caroline was in the accounting department at Boehringer Ingelheim and also had worked for American Angus Association. Mrs. Garrett was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church MIR House of Prayer, and Boehringer Anchor Vets. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, visiting, and walking. She went to monthly lunches with her Convent of the Sacred Heart classmates of 1958. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Phillip Wolfe; parents; and brother, Bobby Waller. Darlene Laverne (Benitz) Treu, 82, passed from this mortal life, Friday, February 8, 2013, at her residence in St. Joseph. Darlene was born January 4, 1931, in Doniphan County, Kansas, to Carl and Hilda (Ramseier) Benitz. She attended Wathena High School, where she was salutatorian of her class. She married Joseph Treu on October 17, 1957, and alternated careers as a homemaker with employment at Westab (Mead), Sheppard Studios, Crouch Brothers, and finally as office manager at IBEW Local 545, where she retired. She was a long serving member of the Altar Society of St. James Church. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, crossword puzzles, gardening, Las Vegas, and time with her children and grandchildren. She was known as an often quiet, but always polite and well-mannered lady, and was a supportive mother. She will be intensely missed by her relatives and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Bobby, Carl Jr., and Bernard. Ralph O. Hood, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri was surrounded by family and friends who loved him when he completed his final journey and passed peacefully and comfortably into the welcome arms of the Lord on February 10, 2013. He was born April 20, 1925 to Jess and Cora Maude (Fabert) Hood in Ottawa, Kansas. On February 15, 1985, Ralph married Audrey Hood, who preceded him in death on December 5, 2005. Ralph, a World War II veteran served three years in the Army Air Corp as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic. After the Army, Ralph worked at Swift & Company in St. Joseph before becoming the Postmaster at Cosby, Missouri in 1966; Ralph retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Ralph was an outdoor enthusiast all of his life and truly loved fishing, hunting, and working in the garden. In his mid-60’s, his sons introduced him to playing golf, and he became an avid golfer. Ralph achieved what many other golfers only dream about. He hit a hole-in-one when he was 80, and another at 82. Ralph was active with both the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodges in Cosby, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ralph Eugene; wife, Audrey; brothers, George and Howard; sisters, Daisy, Ada, and Ruth. Survivors: brothers, Richard and Jesse Hood; sister, Irene Shepherd; four children, Joyce Hood, Richard (Cheryl), Gail Murray (Bill), and Frank (Pam); many nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Ralph was not a man of many words, but he was quick with a smile, a joke, and a twinkle of his bright blue eyes. Marguerite Alice (Allison) Gaarder, 91, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at her home at a local assisted-living facility.    Marguerite was born June 11, 1921, on her family’s farmstead near Olathe, Kansas. She was the youngest of five children born to Aaron and Alice Allison. On February 23, 1946, Marguerite married Gilbert William Gaarder of Blythedale, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1993.  Out of their union of forty-seven years came seven children: Gilbert “Bill” William Jr. (Carol), both deceased; Patricia Ann, St. Paul, Minnesota; Stephen Thomas (Mary), Joplin, Missouri;  Susan Kay (Jean Whisnant), Lakewood, Colorado; David Robert (Barbara O’Sullivan), Minneapolis, Minnesota; Nancy Jean (Robert Reincke) Omaha, Nebraska; and John Allison (Jeannette), Troy, Kansas; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a great-grandchild expected in May, and seven step-great-grandchildren. Marguerite is also survived by her sister, Pearl Thorp of Prairie Village, Kansas. Before moving to St. Joseph in 1967, the family lived in Shawnee-Mission, Kansas. Marguerite attended Emporia State Kansas Teachers College and taught in a one-room schoolhouse near Olathe. During World War II, she worked as an air traffic controller in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Later in life she worked at Central High School in the cafeteria. She also took pride in her work on a Buchanan County grand jury. Marguerite was devoted to her family and her faith. She was an active member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served on the church board and was active in numerous church groups, including the Guy Harden sunday school class and the Martha Fellowship. Her many interests included scouting, when her children were young, visiting with extended family and friends, and making gifts for others, including crocheted afghans. She showed her devotion to her family in many ways, frequently with a homemade treat or dessert.   She was known for her friendliness and sense of humor. Marguerite is also preceded in death by a brother, Francis, and sisters, Lois and Ruth. Services: 11:00 A.M. Monday, Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church. William David Bears, 45, Maryville, Missouri died on Thursday, February 7,
2013, at his home in Maryville.

David was born February 21, 1967 in Maryville, the son of Eldon L. and
Margaret (Gross) Bears.

He was a graduate of Maryville High School and was employed by Kawasaki
Motors working on the production line.

He was a member of St Gregory Catholic Church, Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his father Eldon Bears, an infant brother Martin
Lee Bears and a niece Paige Gard.

Survivors include his mother Margaret Bears, Maryville; Chris Bears, Council
Bluffs, Iowa, Mick Bears, Skidmore, Missouri, Ed Bears, Savannah, Missouri,
John (Ginger) Bears, Maryville, Jean Reed, Maryville, Bet (John) Gard,
Maitland, Missouri, Sue (Brad) Peve, Hopkins, Missouri; numerous nieces,
nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Bears body has been cremated.

She was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, a member of Ladies Altar Society at St. Patrick’s in Chanute, attended several Lifetime Living Courses at NCCC, and loved to cook and entertain. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Neely; sister, Mary Jane Kuntz; brothers, Robert, Edward, and Jimmy Bosslet. Cecil Darrel “Pete” Nicholas, 94, Hopkins, Missouri, died Tuesday, February
05, 2013,  at St. Francis Hospital,  Maryville, Missouri.

Pete was born March 27, 1918, in Coburg, Iowa to Thomas Toy and Bessie
Florence (Clark) Nicholas.

When he was eighteen years old, Pete joined the Buena Vista CCC Camp #4787
in 1933, south of Burns, Oregon.  Franklin D. Roosevelt was President and
responsible for starting CCC camps all over the United States.  Many of the
projects built during these camps are still in use today.

He was a retired farmer, carpenter and construction worker, having worked
for the Green Bay Lumber Company, Clarinda, Iowa in the 50’s and Dusenburg
Construction during the 60’s.

Cecil was a member of the Hopkins Baptist Church, Hopkins, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers Lloyd and Carl
Nicholas; two sisters Opal Nicholas and Vera Mae Snodderley.

Survivors include his daughter, Paula O’Neal, Braddyville, IA; two grandsons
Andrew O’Neal, Braddyville, Aaron Nicholson and Lisa Nicholson, Clarinda,
Iowa; two great grandchildren Marissa Brown and Willow Nicholson; three

Nancy Jo Reinert Cluck, 57, Cosby, Missouri died Monday, February 4, 2013 at her home.
She was born August 18, 1955 to Robert and Barbara Deal in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she has lived all her life.
Nancy graduated from Central High School in 1973.
She was in the banking business from 1973-1982 and worked at Weyerhauser Paper Company from 1982-1988. She broke and trained Quarter Horses till 1989.
Nancy started her career in Real Estate at Coldwell Banker General Properties on December 7, 1987, where she worked until her passing. Nancy was recognized as the #1 agent for over 19 years and in 1996 was honored by the St. Joseph Regional Association of Realtors as the Agent of the Year. She enjoyed a reputation for being a knowledgeable and professional Realtor. She served her customers for years as the Nanny R Team, which consisted of her daughter Bobbi Howe and Kathleen Saulan. She was extremely loyal and loved her Coldwell Banker family. She was widely respected and will be missed by her many friends throughout the St. Joseph real estate community.
She loved her career of helping people, and enjoyed her horses and pets, especially her dog CeBe, who people often mistook for the Coldwell Banker Dog.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Gordon Ellsworth Russell, 96, Graham, Missouri, died Monday, February 4, 2013, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Gordon was born May 26, 1916, in Savannah, Missouri, to Everett Ellsworth and Gertrude (Fee) Russell.

A 1934 graduate of the Graham High School, he was a farmer.

He married Genevieve Goforth on June 1, 1941, in Maryville.

Gordon was a member of the Graham United Methodist Church, the Graham Lion’s Club (last surviving charter member) a Zone Chair and Deputy Governor of Lion’s Club International and other numerous civic and community organizaitons.

Preceding Gordon in death were his wife Genevieve (2007), his parents, brothers Lawrence, Corliss, Carol, and Meril, nephew Conrad Russell, and great grandson Mason Tunell.

Survivors include daughters Jenila and husband Kelly Martin, Cleveland, Tennessee, Marcia and husband David Leeper, Graham, grandchildren Shelley Betsinger, Shawn Leeper, Ben Tunell, and Trevor Leeper, six great granddaughters, three great grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 11 AM, at the Graham United Methodist Church, with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham.

She was born August 3, 1925 to Harvey and Alverta Paden in New York, New York.
Annie married Walter Martin, Jr. on September 13, 1945. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1984.
She was a Bookeeper and Accountant for Buckminister for ten years.
Mrs. Martin was a member of King Hill Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Northwest Missouri Geneology Society, where she had served as President, and she helped organize The Pony Express Re-Run in 1960.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, David W. Martin; half-sister, Katherine Gottshack; and parents.

Harry  was born January 28, 1914, in Hopkins, Missouri to George  and
Magdalene Elizabeth Thompson.

Harry attended Gaynor School, was a farmer, a member of the Masonic Lodge,
Pickering, Missouri  and was of the Christian faith.

He married Alma Wiley Thompson  April 04, 1936, in Clarinda, Iowa.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife Alma Lenora Wiley Thompson,
(December 5, 2008), his parents, son Carl Richard Thompson (February 9,
1974), and sisters Marguerite Pittsenbarger, Esther Martin, Mildred Dieter,
and Helen Godsey, a brother Roy Thompson, and a great grandson Logan
Thornton.

Mae (Helmer)  Womack who preceded her in death.
A graduate Northeast Nodaway High School and Gard Business College, St.
Joseph, Missiouri, Carol worked at Pit Stop, The Senior Center and was
currently employed at the Holiday Inn Express.
She married Shelby Douglas  Keever, Jr. on  December 26, 1970,  Winston
Missouri.
Carol  was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary, Maryville.
Preceding in death were her parents and father-in-law Shelby Keever.
Survivors include her husband Shelby Douglas Keever, Jr. of their home in
Maryville, mother-in-law Emilee Keever, Maryville, brother-in-law Kirby
(Brenda)  Keever,  nephew T.J. (Vanessa) Keever, both of Burlington Jct.,
Missouri,  niece Ashley (Aaron) Brown, Maryville, great niece Olivia Keever,

Neil D. Robinson, 90, Hamilton, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Neil was born December 2, 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas to Dallas and Edna (Thompson) Robinson. He graduated in 1941 from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. On July 3, 1942 he joined the US Navy and served three and a half years. Part of that time was spent in the South Pacific. On August 1, 1942 he married Phyllis Hodges in Kansas City, Kansas. He was married to his true love for 70 years. To this union two sons were born, Jeff and Steve. Neil was a member of Hamilton Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 285 of Hamilton, Missouri and a former member of the Lions Club and the Hamilton Township Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors: wife, Phyllis, of the home; two sons, Jeff Robinson (Barbara), Sunrise Beach, Missouri and Steve Robinson (Pam), Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Betty Lou (Sultzer) Wise, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away quietly on January 30, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. Betty was the only child of LeRoy and Bertha Leanna (Brady) Sultzer, born on October 30, 1927. She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1945. Betty married Lloyd L. Wise on April 20, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1990. Betty worked for many years in various factories before going to work helping her husband operate the Monarch Cleaners until his death. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for twelve years and was sent to fifty disasters in various parts of the United States, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Saipan. Some of her fondest memories were of the different people she had met and helped throughout the years of volunteering. She was awarded the Clara Barton Award in 2005, which is the highest reward the American Red Cross awards. She was also a member of the American Red Cross Red Hatters. Mrs. Wise was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She loved to play Bingo, cards and enjoyed bird watching and family activities. Marian had fond memories of her 2011 trip to Alaska with 15 family members. Mrs. Brocker was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Lauretta loved to garden and work in the yard. She was a talented seamstress and made many clothes for her family. She also loved to travel and take pictures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Brocker; three sisters; and one brother.

He attended Trenton Junior College for one year and graduated from the Linotype School, which was part of the Journalism School at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. Robert married Wilberta Mae Deegan on January 31, 1954. To this union two children were born. He worked at the Trenton Republican-Times and The St. Joseph New Press & Gazette, retiring in 1998 as Night Production Superintendent. Following retirement Willie and Bob traveled to nearly every state in the Union. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He held every office and since 1971 has been Secretary-Treasurer of St. Joseph Typographical Union No. 40. He was a 1972 graduate from Central High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Missouri Western State University. Kevin proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a CPA in his own firm, Young and Company, which later merged to become Liechti, Franken and Young. Kevin was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Moila and was a member of the St. Joseph Boat and Yacht Club for 27 years, where he served as Commodore in 1986. He enjoyed boating and working outside. Kevin loved his family very much, especially his bride and three girls. Later in life he also cherished the time he got to spend with his beloved grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dinker was born March 28, 1956 in Maryville, Missouri. His parents were Ardian “Moon” and Burna D. (Harmon) Milligan and Loretta K. Milligan.

Dinker was a graduate of Maryville High School and a member of the Maitland Christian Church.

He was united in marriage to Tammy Ferris, November 17, 1988 at the Christian Church in Skidmore, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his Father and Mother, and Kathleen Bauman, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Survivors include: his wife Tammy of the home, Barnard; children, Danny Marsh, Adam Marsh and Tamora Finnell; mother Loretta Milligan Stevens; sisters Belinda D. Milligan and DeeDee Waske; brothers Harley L. Milligan and Fritz Waske.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM, Saturday, February 02, 2013, at the Christian Church in Maitland with funeral services following at 2:00 PM.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, Missouri.
