Jean Adams

1936-2012

Jean Adams, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at a local healthcare facility. She was born June 2, 1936 to Charles and Mable (Scott) Hix. Jean married John Adams on October 13, 1963. He survives of the home. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife as well as a talented seamstress and cook. Family was very important to her and she was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Hix Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Branson. Susan K. Cook

1949-2012

Susan K. Cook, 63, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, November 26, 2012 at her residence. She was born August 17, 1949 to Karl and Mary (Tischer) Hunzeker. Susan married John W. Cook on June 13, 1998. Mrs. Cook was very active with her job for the St. Joseph Youth Alliance and was a member of Grace Evangelical Church. She also enjoyed taking Carribean cruises. She was preceded in death by her parents; and aunt, Naomi with whom she was very close. Alice L. Woodbury

1936-2012

Alice L. Woodbury, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 18, 1936 to Elmer and Sylvia (Worley) Felzien. Alice married Ross Woodbury on November 24, 1956. He survives of the home. She was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church, where she was an elder, PEO Chapter FL, the Junior League of St. Joseph, a past President of the Children’s Theatre of St. Joseph, and served on the YWCA Board of Directors. Mrs. Woodbury was also a manager of AAA Travel Agency for ten years and a Docent at the St. Joseph Museum.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Robert Dodson. Survivors: husband; daughter, Traci Dodson, St. Louis, Missouri; sons, Mark Woodbury (Karen) St. Joseph, Missouri, Cole Woodbury (Ingrid), St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Robert Dodson, Jr. (Lindsey), Luke Dodson, Kylie Dowell (Jason), Ross Clayton Woodbury, Nicholas Woodbury, Alexandra Woodbury, Bailey Woodbury; great-grandchildren, Joey Dodson, Maddox Wallace; brother, Leroy Felzien (Jan); sister, Patty Hoit (Stan); and great aunt, Delia Lamb.

Jay R. Knapp, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, November 22, 2012 
at a local healthcare facility.  He was born on July 19, 1923 to James 
and Wilda (Courtin) Knapp.  Jay married Virginia Akins on November 5, 1945. 
He was a member of the Brotherhood Lodge No. 269, A.F. & A.M. and Savannah 
Avenue Baptist Church.  Mr. Knapp was preceded in death by his wife; 
parents; a brother, Frank Knapp, and a disabled veteran. 
Survivors: sons, Roger Knapp, St. Joseph, Missouri, Gary Knapp (Becky), 
San Bernardino, California; daughters, Sandra Knapp, St. Joseph, Missouri, 
Karen Angely, St. Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 
fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Douglas H. King
1924-2012

Douglas H. King, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, November 22, 2012 
at a local healthcare facility. He was born July 2, 1924 to Elza and Myrtle 
(Brown) King. Mr. King married Ruby Kiser. They later divorced. 
On June 6, 1970, he married Helen Irene Parker. She preceded him in death 
on June 25, 2012. He was a member of the VFW and served as a machinist in 
the United States Navy during World War II. Douglas was preceded in death 
by his parents; wife; and brother, Don King. Survivors: daughter, Nila Hale, 
Savannah, Missouri; sons, Howard King, St. Joseph, Missouri, 
Paul King (Karla), Blue Springs, Missouri, Steve King (Vicky), 
Hamilton, Missouri; step children, Rufena Burton, Daniel Parker Jr.,

 Ernest Eugene “Ernie” Robertson passed away 
peacefully at his home in Belton, Missouri on 
November 19, 2012. He was born to John and 
Mamie Robertson in Blair, Kansas. Ernie enjoyed 
a full and rich life. He was a beloved husband, 
father, and grandfather. He was a great friend 
always ready to lend a hand and never met a 
stranger. Ernie was greatly loved and will be 
missed by all of his family and friends. He was preceded 
in death by his parents; one brother; 
and two sisters. Ernie is survived by Florene, his wife of sixty years; 
and two sons, Larry (Kathleen) Country Club, Missouri, and Randy (Pam)

Robert L. “Bob” Younger 

1922-2012

Robert L. “Bob” Younger, 90, Easton, Missouri died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 11, 1922 to Walter and Florence Younger. Robert married LaVona Evans on December 31, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2007. He served in the United States Army in the #737 Tank Battalion during World War II under General Patton. Mr. Younger worked at Mead Products for thirty-five years as a forklift order filler. He enjoyed his retirement, loved to eat out, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, did small engine repair, and loved to tinker with everything. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson, Brad Reno; sister, Fairy Younger; and brothers, Franklin and Walter Younger, Jr. Survivors: daughter, Connie Reno, St. Joseph, Missouri; sons, Dennis Younger, Agency, Missouri, and Steve Younger (Dawn), St. Joseph, Missouri; three grandchildren; two great – grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; former son-in-law, Jerry Reno, St. Joseph, Missouri; and sister, Roma Sprague (Dale). Betty Loraine McCush

Betty Loraine McCush, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa. She was born on November 13, 1928, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Thomas and Estella Harris. Betty married Jack McCush on February 27, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2009. Mrs. McCush worked at Mead Products and she was a member of South Park United Methodist Church and the United Paper Workers Local #29. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Dennis McCush; daughter, Carol Perman; and five brothers and sisters. Survivors: sons, Jack McCush (Mary), Boonville, Missouri Roger McCush (Donna), Savannah, Missouri, and Bob McCush (Brenda), Plattsburg, Missouri; son-in-law, Jesse Perman; daughter, Christy Rupp (Mike), Cherokee, Iowa; brother, Richard Harris Sr. (Ethel); twenty grandchildren; nineteen great – grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret Waller Paulick
1944-2012

Margaret Waller Paulick, 68, Parker, Colorado, passed away on September 10, 2012.
She was born on June 28, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Merle and Dorothy (Schleicher) Waller, who preceded her in death. Margaret was a 1962 graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School and a 1966 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in interior design.
On November 24, 1973, she married Ronald Paulick of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were married for thirty-eight years when he preceded her in death on January 27, 2012.
As a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, Margaret spent her professional career designing interiors of commercial and public buildings in New Mexico and Colorado, including a horserace track in Sante Fe, New Mexico and numerous buildings within the University of New Mexico system. Upon moving to the Denver area, she worked as a design consultant for Haworth, Inc., a company that designs and manufactures office furniture and systems. While at Haworth, she consulted with many corporations on the designs of their office spaces.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1984, and went through many treatments, including a stem cell transplant in 1993. She remained in remission following her transplant but her later years suffered from the long-term effects of multiple treatments with aggressive chemotherapy. She kept an extraordinarily positive outlook throughout her many encounters with medical care.
She was preceded in death by her step-son Stephen Paulick.
Her survivors: two step-children: Ken Paulick (Tina Gelinas), Aurora, Colorado; Heidi Dotson (Robert) and twin grandsons, Jadon and Zachary Dotson, Cave Creek, Arizona; her brother, Lloyd F. Waller (Carol), St. Joseph, Missouri; and sister, Elaine S. Waller, Seattle, Washington.
Memorial Service in St. Joseph is planned for 11:00 A.M. November 24, 2012 Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial gifts to the charity of the donor’s choice that supports both cancer research, and patients and their families in the treatment of cancer.

Alice K. Phelan

1926-2012

Alice K. Phelan, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri died peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
She was born on February 19, 1926 to William J. and Elizabeth F. (Dunnigan) Phelan in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in St. Joseph in 1943 and from the College of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas where she received a BS degree in Math in 1947.

Living with her sister Elizabeth Phelan in St. Joseph, Alice worked as a Senior Vice President of Fletcher Mayo Associates advertising firm for sixteen years. During those years she managed their offices in San Francisco, Kansas City, Atlanta and Chicago. Truly she was a female executive in days when female executives were scarce. After retiring in 1986, Alice pursued a lifelong love of travel. She enjoyed many voyages abroad. Her favorite destinations included India, Asia and safaris in Africa.

She cherished happy times with family, friends and business associates. She was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she formerly served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth; cousin, Jean Newman; and her beloved Sheltie, Megan.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews all from the Kansas City area.

Theodore M. “Ted” Isaacs of Horton, Kansas died November 17, 2012 at the age of 74.
Ted was born in Forbes, Missouri on March 12, 1938 to Milton and Hazel (Jared) Isaacs.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Freddie.
Ted has seven surviving brothers and sisters, Kevin (Kathleen), Mount Home, Arkansas, Vicki Quade, Wichita, Kansas, Tom (Tammy), Fall City, Nebraska, Nancy Sechler (Albert), Hiawatha, Kansas, Michael (Pauline), Portland, Oregon, Jerry (Linda), Richland, Washington, Twyla Kale, Lake City, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

 James E. “Jim” Wallace, 80, Easton, Missouri died Friday, 
 November 16, 2012 at his home.  
 He was born December 13, 1931 to John Andrew and Parolee 
 (White) Wallace in Clarksdale, Missouri.
 He married Norma Davis on August 4, 1951.
 Mr. Wallace served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War 
 in the 177th Construction Engineering Battalion.
 Jim was a self-employed carpet installer. He loved farming 
 and was an avid card player.
 He was a member of Clair United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Parolee Wallace; Stepfather, 
 Jim Muff; brother, Alton Wallace; and sister, Dorothy Elliott.
 Survivors: his wife, Norma Wallace, of the home; son, Kevin Wallace, St. Joseph; 
 daughter, Renee Hickman (Todd), St. Joseph; five grandchildren, 
 Jordan (Alexandra), Andrew and Lacie Wallace and Emily and Jarrett Hickman;
