Shirley Scott

Shirley Scott, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 after 90 years of a loving life.
She was born July 1, 1926 in Marysville, Kansas and lived most of her life in St. Joseph. Shirley married Gregory Scott on June 12, 1947, a romance interrupted and also fueled by Scottie’s service in the Pacific. Her pride for her Marine didn’t fade for their 69 years of marriage. Shirley was a graduate of Lafayette High School and a member of Brookdale Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.

Shirley was “YooHoo” to her grand and great-grandchildren because of her lyrical sweet greeting, and every one of her “little lambs” carry a piece of her in the way they live, with one of her sayings in their hearts. She was our teacher of loving kindness and she never quit learning and refining it herself. Doing good for others with genuine compassion was the way she lived, so there are hundreds of people who were touched by her notes, small gifts, pats on the hand, and soothing eyes.
Nine decades of Shirley’s life was a generous gift from God to us and gratitude soothes the pain of this gap we face.
