ST. JOSEPH – Eddie May Mace, 74, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Mace was a long time member of Carnegie Baptist Church. She retired from H.D. Lee. She loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by two loves of her life, Jessie Castleman and Homer “Butch” Mace; daughter, Tammy Mace Jones; her mother, Elberta; step-father, Dewey Bryant; father, Jessie Hughes Sr.; siblings, Bettie Hoover, Margaret Walker, T.B. Hughes and Jessie Hughes Jr.; and grandson, Colton Sapp.
Survivors include: her children, William Castleman, of Lincoln, Neb., Peggy Jo (Mark) Woolard, of Table Rock, Neb., Monica (Leroy) Sapp, of Weatherby, Mo.; siblings, Doris (Elvin) Winslow, of St. Joseph and Jettie Cline of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Monty Mace, Danny DeMers, Crystal Woods, Adam (Candis) Stanton, Jason (Ashlie) Stanton, Katie Kerns, Ashley Sapp, Caleb Sapp, Bailey Mace, Erica Noble, Trevor Castleman, Jessie Wicker, Chance Castleman, Dylan Woolard, and Jeremiahe Woolard; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ST. JOSEPH – Donna Sue (Hodges) DeWar, 73, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at her residence.
Donna was born October 14, 1941 to Donald “Otis” and Juanita (Paris) Hodges in St. Joseph where she resided most of her life. On June 25, 2005, she married Jerry DeWar.
She worked nearly twenty-five years for The Spot Café. Donna enjoyed gambling, especially playing slot machines.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Donald, Ronnie, Mike and Gary Hodges; and sister, Sandy Sampson.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, of the home; children, Bill Farquhar, Pete Farquhar, both of St. Joseph, and Shane Farquhar of Texas, and Misty Clark, of Savannah, Mo.; siblings, Jim Hodges, Judy (Dave) Thompson, and Pam Webb, all of St. Joseph; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was born March 7, 1939 in Forrest City, Mo., daughter of Ethel and Louis Lovelady. She was a nurse and worked at several area nursing homes. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing bingo, and loved watching wrestling on TV, and was a Christian. Caroline was preceded in death by husband, John Flores; her parents; brothers, and sisters: Gerald, Shirley, Sylvia, William, Lyle, Larry, Frankie, Wilma, Ivan, Norma, and Steven. ST. JOSEPH – Andrew “James” Whitlock, 93, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in a St. Joseph hospital.
He was born September 17, 1921 in Nodaway, Mo., son of Grace and Andrew Whitlock. He served in the Army and is a veteran of the World War II. He owned a second hand shop and sold antiques, he retired from Big Smith and later worked at the Body Guard Company. He enjoyed auctions, garage sales he also coached softball and was a Christian.
James was preceded in death by wife, Virginia Ellen Whitlock; his parents; six brothers, Billy, Charles, Pete, Frank, Stanley and Jesse; three sisters, Juanita, Margaret, and Frances.
Survivors include, son, David (Gisela) Carpenter of Germany; daughter, Iris E. (Sherman) Kerns of St. Joseph; five grandchildren: Willy (Kelly) Barnes, of Kearney, Mo., Lori (Brad) Power of St. Joseph, Davina (Jason) Fansher of Savannah, Mo., Natalie Kerns of St. Joseph, and Maik Carpenter of Germany; 15 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Melvin Whitlock of Rushville, Mo.; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

UNION STAR, Mo. – Roberta Ann Bair, 73, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in a St. Joseph hospital.
She was born June 2, 1941 in Highland, Kan., daughter of Ruth and Ralph Jones. She worked at the Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Hospital as a Nurse Aid. She enjoyed fishing and camping, going to her brothers cabin in Iowa and fishing, loved to play bingo, collect knives, but most of all spending time with her children, and family. She was a Christian.
Roberta was preceded in death by husband, Manley Broce; her parents; two brothers: Richard Jones, and Delbert Jones; a sister, Rita Campbell.
Survivors include, two sons: Tom (Alice Fay) Broce and Carl Broce of St. Joseph; a daughter, Ruth Swafford of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Jones of Ill., and George Jones; sister, Carol Butterfield of St. Joseph; step-children, Cinthia, Steven, Michael, David, Jeffrey, Mary, and John and former husband, Richard Broce.

ST. JOSEPH – Virginia Marie Majeski, 83, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 in a Wathena, Kan., health care center. She was born January 30, 1931 in St. Joseph, daughter of Nina and Ernest Ezzell. She was a homemaker, and also worked at Sietz and retired from Boehringer-Ingellheim. She was a Christian.
Virginia was preceded in death by husband, Anthony John Majeski; her parents; a daughter, Jeanette Wright; a son, Michael Majeski; six brothers: Jack, Donald, Charlie, Ernie, Leroy, and Robert Ezzell; four sisters, Josephine Bruce, Shirley Curtis, Betty Baur, and Nancy Matthews.
Survivors include, five children: Randy Majeski of St. Joseph; Linda Majeski of Parkville, Mo.; Regina Majeski, Jude (Barbara) Majeski, all of St. Joseph, and Steven (Kim) Majeski of Maysville, Mo.; a brother, Wayne (Kay) Ezzell; brother-in-law, Donny Baur.

BELTON, Mo. – Arlene Beeks, 89, died Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Belton Regional Medical Center, Belton.
Arlene was born November 5, 1924, in Hatfield, Missouri to Guy Emery and Edith Marie (Rinehart) Trullinger.
A 1942 graduate of Eagleville, Missouri High School, she married John Charles Beeks July 29, 1944, in Payola, Kan. He preceded her in death November 28, 1995. John and Arlene lived in Stanberry, Mo., until moving to Maryville, Mo., in 1959. Upon retirement in 1988, they moved to Bella Vista, Ark. Arlene moved to Belton in 2012.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bella Vista and attended the Raymore, Missouri United Methodist Church. Arlene joined the PEO sisterhood, Chapter P, in Stanberry in 1958, transferred to Chapter HT, Maryville and then to Chapter BR, Bella Vista. She had been attending meetings with Chapter KS while living in Belton. Arlene served as an officer of the 18 hole Women’s Golf Club while in Bella Vista.
Preceding in death were her parents; husband, John Beeks; brother, Harold Trullinger; brother-in-law, Harold Kinder; sisters-in-law: Mildred and Leah Trullinger; and granddaughter, Nancy Dowden.

SAVANNAH, Mo. – Lenora Helen (Boyd) Hibbs, 94, passed from this life Friday, October 24, 2014 at LaVerna Village in Savannah.
She was born January 6, 1920 southeast of King City, Mo., to Clifton and Maude (Lile) Boyd. Lenora was baptized at a young age. She was a graduate of Grandview High School.
She married Maurice Hibbs, December 10, 1938 and he preceded her in death March 10, 1991. Lenora was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Ralph D. and Eugene C. Boyd.
Maurice and Lenora lived on a farm until they moved to McFall in 1948. Then in 1955, they moved to Pattonsburg, Missouri where she worked in the school cafeteria for 13 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Savannah in 1982, where Lenora became a volunteer in the Oats office, Senior Center and RSVP in 1992 and received two President’s pins for hours volunteered.
Surviving family includes two sons, Ronald Hibbs, Forest City and Clifton (Janis) Hibbs, Clarksdale, Missouri; grandchildren, Randy (Colette) Hibbs, Jennifer Reed, and Jodie (Clayton) Runnels; great-grandchildren, Adrian Cary, Reganne, and Riley Reed; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was born February 16, 1946 to Kenny and Dorma Hamm. Patty married Louis F. Guardado who preceded her in death on December 19, 1989. She was a Secretary for Dowis Insurance Company and Wisdom Manufacturing. She attend Lafayette High School.
She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, an avid golfer and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Louis Jr. and Jeffrey Guardado; and sisters, Karen Whitten, Judy Root, and Merilee Grippando.

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – James Scott Poynter, 64, passed away on October 19, 2014 in Bandera, Texas.
He was born in Maitland, Mo., to Eugene and Betty Stone-Poynter on September 14, 1950.
Due to several family relocations, Scott went to grade school in Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, and graduated from high school in Holton, Kan., in 1968. He was an Eagle Scout and an all-star football, basketball, and softball player. Scott served in the Navy during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Morocco. Once discharged from the Navy, he completed his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees at Emporia State College in Emporia, Kan.
He worked as an accountant for a number of companies, most recently RSC. From a young age, Scott always had a love of music. He was an accomplished musician, playing drums and anything that had keys and strings.
Scott is preceded in death by a brother, Michael Eugene Poynter and his mother, Betty Stone-Poynter.
Scott is survived by two daughters, Tara Poynter of Conroe, Texas, Amber Mangold and her husband Paul of Bandera, Texas; son, Jacob Britton and his wife Lauren of Katy, Texas; sister, Sharon Offutt and her husband Darrell of Sugar Land, Texas; his father, Eugene Poynter of Mound City, Mo.; and his four grandchildren: Aubrey, Payson, Luke, and Makenna.

Geraldine was born to Paul W. and Rosa (Siela) Kneib on February 15, 1922 in St. Joseph. She attended Sacred Heart Convent. She married Herman A. Fisher on September 14, 1943. He passed away in 2003.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, a 4-H Leader, So-Dance Club and Extension Club.
Surviving family includes Rosann Stagg (Charles) Ames, Iowa; Jeanette Toms (Mick) Kearney, Mo.; Ron Fisher (Patricia) Easton, Mo.; Jerry Fisher (Linda) and Roger Fisher (Patsy), Easton, Mo.; and Diane Hendrix (Jimmy), Bentonville, Ark.; brother, Earl Kneib (Ruth), St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Ernestine Elrod (Lloyd), St. Joseph; brother-in-law, Dean Garrahan (Charlotte), Eagle, Idaho; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was born May 28, 1930 in St. Joseph. She graduated from Benton High School, and was a Homemaker. She enjoyed antiques, decorating, and was a loving mother and grandmother, and she was a Christian.
Arlene was preceded in death by husband, Jack Messner; her father, Clarence Halpaine; mother, Violet Davidson; and a brother, Norman Halpaine.

ST. JOSEPH – Larry L. Huston, 75, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 1, 1938 to Paul and Lottie (Armstrong) Huston in St. Joseph.
Larry married Betty Anderson on May 6, 1960. She survives of the home.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Larry retired from MEAD as the Union Business Agent. Following that he was the Executive Director of AFL-CIO Community Services St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a former President of the St. Joseph Labor Council and also a member of the State Labor Board.
Mr. Huston was a member of the Brotherhood Lodge No. 269, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; High Twelve Club No. 49 and Moila Shrine.
Larry was the rock of the family and built his family with absolute love. He believed in giving back to his community and was very active in numerous programs to help those in need. As most know, Larry was a beloved coach for Little League Baseball and Bantam League Football of the Northend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Karlene.

She was born September 10, 1918 to Oscar and Rose (Wenger) Stuber in St. Joseph.
Marjorie married Oliver Louis Schneider on June 9, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1992.
She was a graduate of Oak Grove High School and attended one year of business school. She was also a Bookkeeper for Wonder Bread Bakery for over twenty-five years.
Marge was a member of Clair United Methodist Church where she was an active member since she was ten.

Bill was born September 12, 1934, in Maryville, Mo., to William Henry and Laura Louise (Thompson) Wilmes.
A 1952 graduate of Maryville High School, he was a farmer. He married Patricia Madden Wilmes on February 9, 1954, at St. Patrick’s Church in Maryville.
Bill was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, Mo., and the Knights of Columbus.
Preceding in death were his wife, Pat; brother, Jim Wilmes; sisters, JoAnn Archer, Mary Ann Wilmes and Mercedes Spire.

ST. JOSEPH – Wooduard H. “Woody” Stracener, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2014.
Wooduard H. Stracener was born on September 4, 1929 in Searcy, Ark., to Robert Herschel and Nellie (Free) Stracener. Woody moved to St. Joseph at the age of seven years old. He was a graduate of Central High School class of 1948. Woody proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Trathen from 1951 until 1953.
On July 23, 1950 Woody married his sweetheart Eleanor Jean (Gillette) Stracener in Kansas City, Mo. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage. Eleanor preceded him in death on May 23, 2014.
After working for Beadnall Electric for many years and becoming a master electrician, Woody fulfilled his dream of owning his own business and began Stracener Electric, which he operated for over twenty years before his retirement.
Woody was a member of Francis Street First United Methodist Church, where he was an active member. He was proud to be a fifty year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, past member of the Elks Lodge, member of Charity Lodge #331, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Jesters, Friday Morning Breakfast Club, and Moila Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Legion of Honor and the Moila Cyclists since 1958.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Joshua Stracener.

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Alice Martina Schmitt, 90, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.
Alice was born November 7, 1923, in Barnard, Mo., to Ernest Raffail and Myrtle Flora (Westfall) Nelson.
She and Harry Leland Schmitt were married July 5, 1942, in Troy, Kan. Alice was a member of the Maryville First Christian Church. She worked in the Parkdale Manor laundry department and then was a cook for the Maryville R-II school district at Eugene Field Elementary school.
Preceding in death: her husband, Harry Schmitt (June 1, 2000); son, Russell Schmitt (May 2, 1999); daughter, Shirley Elam (March 13, 2002); five sisters: Esther Elliott, Katherine Ward, Delores Nelson, Irene Powell, and Virginia Pauline Jann; three brothers: Floyd, Neal, and Virgil Nelson.
Alice is survived by four children: Barbara (Terry) Proffit; Sheridan, Wy.; Susan (Marty) Eckstein, Maryville; Lori (Terry) O’Riley, St. Joseph, and Don (Kathy) Schmitt, Clarinda, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.

She was born July 5, 1923 to Earl and Mayme (Fleming) Dunkelberger in Mound City.
She married George E. Wilson on December 5, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2014.
Mary worked at the Sanitarium in Savannah, Mo., after graduating from Mound City High School in 1947. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Mound City. She also belonged to the Sunshine Extension Club and the Cosmopolitan Club in Mound City. She was also a dedicated wife and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marshall and Frances Dunkelberger; and sister, Margaret Ray.

ST. JOSEPH – Mary B. Harness, 63, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 14, 1950 to Irvin and Anna (Honeycutt) Wilson in St. Joseph.
Mary married Marvin Lee Harness, Sr. on February 27, 1968. He survives of the home. She was a housewife and loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. Mary was a former member of Bible Baptist Temple. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, playing Bingo and in the 70’s she was in the Missouri CBers Club.
Mrs. Harness was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christopher Harness; and brothers, Bill, Johnie and Gene Wilson.

BURLINGTON JUNCTION, Mo. – Jane Black, 92, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville, Mo.
Jane was born January 16, 1922, in Clearmont, Mo., to Kennard Charles and Elyda Arjin (Turpen ) Rogers. A graduate of Clearmont High School, she was a homemaker. She married Robert Black on October 21, 1939, in Tarkio, Mo., by Reverend Glenn T Beatty.
Jane was a member of the Burlington Jct, United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and was local, District and Conference member of the church.
She was a Nodaway County Red Cross Volunteer since 1972 and member of the Red Cross Singers who sang at different care centers. She also was a volunteer at the Eisenhower V.A. Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan.
Jane was a member of the Nodaway County Republican Women’s Club, a life member of the Rolla Dicks American Legion Post Unit #315, Burlington Junction, where she received a 65 year Auxiliary pin, a past Unit President, District President and was State President in 1963, a staff member of Missouri Girls State for 30 years and was Director of the program 11 years.
Jane was also a member of Salon #816, Eight and Forty, Rosanna Chapter O.E.S., Maryville, was a Past Matron of the Burlington Junction O.E.S. Chapter, a past District Deputy Grand Matron, and was Grand Representative of North Dakota.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Black; and son, Lauren Black; three brothers, Charles, Wallace, and Keith Rogers; two sisters, Elaine Younger and Joan Koeneke.
Survivors include: daughter, Leah Rae Miller, Maryville; two brothers, Dean Rogers, Wellsville, Kan., and Kennard “Buddy” Rogers, Lawrence, Kans.; and many nieces and nephews.

COSBY, Mo. – Kenneth Vette, 83, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at his home.
Kenneth was born on February 19, 1931 at Westboro, Mo., to Fred W. and Ella (Rosenthal) Vette. Kenneth married the love of his life, Marilyn (Waller) Vette, on August 29, 1953 in Hurlingen, Mo.
He and his wife made their home and raised their family on the dairy farm. In addition to the farm life, he loved playing fast pitch softball as he would pitch left handed and bat right. He enjoyed horseback riding; specifically palominos. He was an avid Royals fan and enjoyed listening to their games as well as Missouri Western games. He was a handyman to all of his neighbors and never met a stranger. Kenneth was a member of the Hope United Church of Christ, the Masonic Lodge #600 in Cosby and the Cosby Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Diane Anselmo (Mark) of Katy, Texas; daughter, Sharon Smith (Glenn); son, Duane Vette (Mary), and son-in-law, John Cox all of Cosby; three sisters, Dorothy Trail, St. Joseph; Darlene Hines (Lonnie) St. Joseph; Lois Turner (Ed), Chillicothe, Mo. Kenneth leaves five grandchildren, Marissa Anselmo-Hill, Cassandra Smith, Kiersten Vette-Whitsell, Austin Vette and Evan Vette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla Cox; sisters, Margaret Linville and Violet Mae Vette.

ST. JOSEPH – Bobby Wayne “Bob” Funk, 76, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 in a St. Joseph health care center.
He was born November 17, 1937 in Halls, Mo., son of Frances and Wilbur Funk. He married Cheryl Keith on Aug. 24, 1962. He served in the Army and was an excellent marksman. He retired from Smurfit-Stone Container as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, camping, and the outdoors, he was a Baptist.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and a brother, Gerald (Beth) Funk.

ST. JOSEPH – William Thomas “Tom” Mann, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in a St. Joseph, hospital.
He was born July 23, 1929 in St. Joseph, son of Goldie and Perry Mann. He graduated from Christian Brothers high school in 1947. He married Florence Trapp on June 9, 1956 and they have been married for 58 years. He worked at St. Joseph Structural Steel as a Draftman and Assistant, Superintendent and Noma Lites.
He had a very strong Catholic faith, he was family oriented, and his family always came first, he loved to fish, loved people, and to tease people and have a good time, he was always very helpful to all in need. Tom was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Professional American Draftsman Society, he was a very talented machinist and draftsman.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include wife, Florence Ann Mann of the home; two daughters, Mary Theresa (Tom) Baker of Ocala, Fla., and Cecelia (Mike) Sten of Cosby, Mo.; and a son, Perry (Lisa) Mann of St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Bob) Parsons, Ryan Sten, and Haley Mann.

Davison, Helen
MARYVILLE, Mo. – Helen Margurette Wideman Hodge Davison, 91, formerly of Hopkins, Mo., died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Golden Living Center, Maryville.
Helen was born February 6, 1923 in Jefferson County, near Desoto, Mo., to George Wisely and Emily Dorothy (Siebels) Wideman. She grew up on a farm and attended country school in that area.
On May 25, 1943 Helen married Joseph Sydney Hodge in DeSoto. Born to this union were two boys, Joe and Karl Hodge. The family lived happily in the DeSoto area until the accidental death of her husband on September 23, 1946. Helen then went to work in a local glass factory to support her family.
On August 27, 1949 Helen married Harlan Davison and lived on a farm in the Hopkins area for forty-eight years. They raised a blended family: their son, Terry (Marsha) Davison, Hopkins; Harland’s children, Richard (Carol) Davison of Maloy, Iowa; Ken (Joyce) Davison of Maryville; Jack (Phillis) Davison of Macon, Mo.; Sharon (Sherrill) Swink of Udall, Kan.; Sue Dalles of St. Joseph; Larry (Pam) Davison of Hopkins; Joe (Lois) Hodge of Bedford, Iowa; and Karl (B.J.) Hodge of Maryville.
After Harlan’s death on October 6, Helen moved to Maryville in December 1998. Here, she raised an annual garden, grew flowers and kept her lawn and home in nearly perfect condition. Everything had a place and everything, indeed, was in its place. Helen won a Home Beautification Award for her work.
Throughout her life, Helen especially enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, and being out of doors in general. She was an exceptional cook. Her food was often enjoyed not only by her family, but, also by friends and neighbors. In her later years, Helen took great pride in creating quilt tops and giving the finished creations to her family.
While in the Hopkins area and in good health, she attended the Hopkins Baptist Church. In later years she moved her attendance to the Maryville First Baptist Church.
In addition to her spouses, and parents, Helen was preceded in death by son, Ken Davison; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Mae. Wideman; sister and brother- in-law: Blanche and Floyd Johnson; brother-in-law: Henry Haverstick and grandson: Michael Hodge.
In addition to her children, she is survived by a sister, Opal Haverstick of Union, Mo.; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

ST. JOSEPH – Dorothy Jean Pettijohn, 88, was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
Dorothy was born September 18, 1926 to Forrest and Pansy (Walker) Castle in Jackson, Tenn.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. Her previous employments were with the former Plymouth Clothing, Company, Southwestern Bell and twenty years as Librarian at Mark Twain Elementary School.
She was also a devoted wife to her husband, Wesley and loving mother to her four children. Dorothy loved her flower gardens and camping trips with her family.
Mrs. Pettijohn was a member of Ashland Avenue United Methodist Church. During her life she was a member of the North St. Joseph Study Club, a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was involved with Friends of Education Bowling League. She volunteered countless hours to the Alzheimer’s Association and as a tour guide for the Pony Express Museum.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; son, Brent Pettijohn; parents, Pansy and Forrest Castle; and her brother, Robert Castle.
She is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Arn (Don), Pittsburg, Mo., Karen Sparks (Larry), St. Joseph, and Jan Wood (Dave), Nixa, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ryan and Jay Arn, Marc Sparks, Heather Horton, Sheila Martin and Krystal Isringhausen; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly June Schneider; and brother, Charles Castle (Marylou).

She was born July 29, 1918 to Edgar and Maude (Davis) Gray. She married Welton Helfers, February 25, 1940.
Hope graduated from Craig high School Class of 1935. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and later at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. While at St. Peter she was the past president of the Ladies Aid and Dorcas Circle. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and quilting.

ST. JOSEPH – Wayne R. Phillippe, 88, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 8, 1926 to Thomas and Emma (Busch) Phillippe in Fillmore, Mo.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated Phillippe’s Phillips 66 in St. Joseph. He later was a devoted employee for over twenty-five years at Gray Manufacturing. In his later years he was a gentleman farmer and was very proud of his garden.
Mr. Phillippe was a member of the American Legion Post #11 and former member of Parents without Partners.
Wayne married Norma Sechler in August 1948 and to that union six children were born: Larry Phillippe (Faye), Ricky Phillippe, Don Phillippe (Pam), Jeanne Jones (Jeff), Allan Phillippe (Bridget) and Lisa West (Jim); ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
He later married Laveda M. Richardson on May 6, 1985 and he gained five more children: Bob, Janie, Randy, Rod and Suzy; and numerous grandchildren. He’s also survived by sister-in-law, Virginia Phillippe; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal canine companions, Rufus and Casper.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Laveda; parents; infant son, Ricky; sisters, Leota Moseman, Lola Tibbetts, Mildred Carolus and Dorothy Power; and brother, Otha.

He was born December 21, 1941 to Thomas and Lora (Lainhart) Graham, Sr. in Albany, Mo.
Tom married Cleota Andrus in November of 1961. They later divorced.
He worked for John King Realty and retired from Chicago Northwest Railroad after twenty-five years. He liked dancing, fishing, camping and old cars. Tom was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed woodworking and built three boats. He also enjoyed renewing old friendships.
Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Graham; and the mother of his children, Cleota.

ST. JOSEPH – Juanita Carroll Franke, 84, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 in a St. Joseph hospital.
She was born May 13, 1930 in St. Joseph, daughter of Leona Maude Palmer and Glen Sylvester Marriott.
Carroll was preceded in death by husband, LeRoy John Frank; her parents; son, LeRoy (Bubby) John Franke; daughter, Janice Sue Estes; two brothers, Glen Sylvester Jr.and wife Imogene Marriott, Jerry Dean Marriott; an unborn child; sister-in-law, Jeanie Marriott. Survivors include: two daughters, Judy Kay (Dick) Freeman and Norma Jean Huffman and former husband Richard; two brothers, James Harold Marriott and John Haven (Mary) Marriott; sister, Hazel Lee (Ken) Tebow; former sister-in-law, Annette Marriott; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
When Carroll was age 16, she met the love of her life, our father LeRoy John Franke at age 23. They began dating off and on in 1946, and were eventually overcome with the love bug in February 1949 and were married.
After Carroll and LeRoy were married, they began to start a family. LeRoy worked at Nutrena Mills and later on at Anchor Serum, until his retirement. Carroll worked as a candy striper, apple picker, factory worker and as a tobacco picker. Later she would work for Kendallwood Home Health Care, into her 70’s. In 1975 Carroll and LeRoy (mom and dad) would sell their farm in DeKalb, Mo. They would move to Rushville, Mo., after purchasing a tobacco farm where they would work side by side as husband and wife. Carroll even diligently worked at the tobacco farm of Dennis and Betty Reagan, at this time. Our (Mom) Carroll loved spending time in the tobacco fields. Mom was an amazing Christian woman, who had great strength and courage. Mom was a breast cancer survivor in 2012 and a great mother and grandmother. She was also a great friend and relative, and never met a stranger. Carroll was friendly to all she came across. We will all have wonderful memories of her, in our lives. Most of all, we will remember her blue eyes, her infectious smile, and her ability to make friends, wherever she went. Our Mom (Carroll) always loved to tell stories from the past with her children and grandchildren. Now it is our turn to share Carroll’s story. Juanita Carroll Franke was loved very much and will be missed dearly by family and friends. She belongs to the heavens now.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at New Home Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Steele officiating. FAUCETT, Mo. – William “Mike” Michael Banks, 56, passed away Sunday October 12, 2014.
He was born November 7, 1957 in Waycross, Ga., son of Alice and Jerod Banks. He was a maintenance service tech in the mobile home industry, he was also an artist and and worked at Hobby Lobby. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a great artist.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jerod William Banks.
He is survived by mother, Alice Bladen of Okeechobee, Fla.; companion of 15 years, Kristal Walker of the home; two daughters, Heather Banks and Elizabeth Banks; a son, William Michael Banks Jr.; eight grandchildren; brother, Jeffrey Banks; and sister, Vickie Marie Banks, both of Florida.

ST. JOSEPH – Lillian A. Walters, 88, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 in a St. Joseph health care center.
She was born July 17, 1926 in St. Joseph, daughter of Olive and Thomas Walters. She graduated from Benton High School 1946, She worked at Stetson Hats Manufacturing for 23 years, and retired from the State Grain Inspectors and Weighing after several years.
She has been bowling since 1946 and was considered one of the city’s best bowlers with an average of 187 at one time. She served on the board of directors of the St. Joseph WBA for nine years. She served as President of St. Joseph Women’s Bowling association, as well as several other bowling associations, she was inducted to the Bowlers hall of fame in 1985. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 359 and a recipient of the 50 years of continuous membership certificate. She was a member of the King Hill Baptist Church.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a cousin, Doris Gaul of Manhattan, Kan.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be conducted on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 2 p.m., at the Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Rupp Funeral Home. ST. JOSEPH – Charles “Charlie” Virgil Collings, 63, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at his home. He was born February 23, 1951 in St. Joseph, son of Shirley and Virgil Collings.
He retired from Sara Lee, formerly St. Joe Foods, from the maintenance department. He was a Catholic.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Virgil.
Survivors include, long time companion, Rose Anne Johnson of home; his mother, Shirley Mae Collings; son, Ryan Collings; step-children, Charles Moore, Phillip Johnson, Albert Johnson, Tina Middleton, and Maryann Johnson; 18 grandchildren; brother, Rick Collings; two sisters, Dianna Collings and Helen Matthews; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Potts.

ST. JOSEPH – Kristie Lynette Wright Lewis, 48, daughter of RC and Bertha Jewel (Short) Wright, both late of St. Joseph and Benton High School Class of 1984, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved friends and family Thursday October 2, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
She had been recovering from a prolonged illness. She had moved from Alabama and Tennessee where she lived for several years due to this illness. She had returned to St. Joseph to care for her Mother when she fell ill.
Kristie was a member of Amazing Grace Worship Center in Alabaster, Ala., where she was active and loved teaching her Sunday School Class. Kristie had began attending Cornerstone Community Church in Savannah, Mo. She loved Country Gospel music and had been a fan for many years. Her favorite groups included personal friends; Full Life Trio of Savannah, Mark 209 of Nashville, Tenn., and The Kingsmen Quartet.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, James Alan Lewis; her step-son, James Alan Lewis Jr.; and step-daughte,r Carrielegh Ann Lewis, of Alabama.

ST. JOSEPH – Marjorie Jean Davis, 89, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Carriage Square.
She was born on April 3, 1925 to Isaac and Marjorie (Miller) Price in St. Joseph.
Marjorie married Robert W. Davis on November 29, 1969. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She formerly lived in Lincoln, Neb., Wichita, Kan., and St. Louis, Mo. While in St. Joseph she was a teller at the American National Bank for ten years and manager/waitress at Les Restaurant.
Marjorie was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Seniorette Bowling League.
Survivors: three stepchildren, Victoria (Davis) Kaehler, Phoenix, Ariz.; Michael Davis, Olathe, Kan.; and Debra (Davis) Thue, Mesa, Ariz.; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Mick, Dorothy
SAVANNAH, Mo. – Dorothy Faye Mick, 87, formerly of Hopkins, Mo., died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah.
Dorothy was born December 31, 1926 in Hopkins, the daughter of William Riley and Nora Naomi (Oxley) Williams. A graduate of Hopkins High School, she married Hilton Lorree Mick August 25, 1943 in Kansas City, Kan.
A homemaker, Dorothy was a member of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Willing Workers Club, all of Hopkins.
After Rita, Sandra and Paula were born, the family moved back to Hopkins and resided in the house across the street from the park. Except for a short period of time, Dorothy did not work outside the home. She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was always busy enough with laundry, baking bread, making clothes for her family, the garden and canning. She saved S & H Green Stamps to make sure her children had something under the tree on Christmas. Once her children were grown, she started making quilts for her children and grandchildren. In 1991 when Hilton died, she made 17 quilts. She also had a very large library. She loved to read. She shared her books with family and friends-anyone who loved to read liked her.
In 2007, Dorothy sold the house by the park and moved to Savannah. She lived in the senior housing there until 2013 when she moved to Shady Lawn Care Center. She completed her circle of life on October 5, 2014.
Preceding her in death: her husband, Hilton Mick ( March 26, 1991); parents; son, Seth William Mick (1976); daughters, Debbie Mick (1953); Nancy Mick (1955) and Tina Mick (1959); step-sons, Francis and Raymond Mick; step-daughter, Hellen Hayes; brothers, Paul and Herman Williams; sisters, Vivian Fansler; Evelyn Birkenholz, Helen Sample, Nora Belanger, and Frances Espey; a half-brother, Edgar Williams; and two half-sisters, Berneice Williams and Nellie Hickenbottom.
Survivors include: her sons, Randall Mick, Libby, Montana and Thebes David Mick, Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Rita Montgomery, Savannah; Sandra Youmans, Kansas City, Mo.; Paula Jean Mick, Leavenworth, Kan.; and Mary Lou Hurtado, Lyons, Kan.; step-son, Allen Mick, Shenandoah, Iowa; step-daughters: Dorothy Hartman, Yorktown, Iowa and Pearl Lilly, Flemmington, Misssouri; 50 grandchildren; many great-grand-children and great-great-grandchildren; a brother: George Williams, Omaha, Neb.

SKIDMORE, Mo. – Gary Lynn Walker, 69, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.
Gary was born November 28, 1944, in Maryville, Mo., to Kay and Della Mae (Colwell) Walker. He graduated with the class of 1962 from West Nodaway High School.
He served his country in Vietnam with the United States Army. A Pioneer Hybrid seed corn salesman, Gary was a member of the Maryville Elk’s Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, William, Ivan and Jim Walker.
Gary is survived by: his son, Jason (Amanda) Walker, Skidmore; two grandchildren, Madalyn and Izabella Walker; brother, Phillip (Judith) Walker, Skidmore; sister, Margaret (Donald) Cordell, Maryville, Mo.; and Janet Kimble, Deepwater, Mo., mother of Jason.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014, Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

ST. JOSEPH – Reinhard “Whitey” Mausolf, 78, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at a local healthcare facility.
He was born July 14, 1936 to Gilbert and Ora (Althoff) Mausolf in St. Paul, Minn.
Whitey met his wife Gretchen Jan Mueldener in Lyons, Kan. They were married on July 21, 1958. She survives him at their home in St Joseph.
He proudly served for the United States Air Force from 1955-2000. Fifteen years of his service were devoted to the same work as a civilian. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War for which he received a Bronze Star. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant.
Whitey was a member of St Joseph’s Wyatt Park Christian Church. The far most important things to him were taking care of his family and serving his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Audrey Dudley, Alvador Mausolf and Marvin Mausolf.
Additional Survivors: sons, Dean Mausolf and Mark Mausolf (Lori); daughter, Diana Mausolf-Hughes (Kirk); grandchildren, Meghann, Dean, Joseph, Heather and Krysten, Nichole and Adam; and great-grandchildren, Eliza, Emma and Isa.

QUINCY, Ill. – Joan M. Loyd, 85, passed away on October 6, 2014, at a healthcare facility in Quincy.
She was born August 26, 1929, in Horton, Kan., to Gustav T. Larson and Bernice Larson, the second of three children. She had attended the University of Kansas. Joan married Harold L. Loyd in 1949. They moved from Brown County, Kan., to St. Joseph in 1953. Harold preceded her in death in 2011.
Joan was an avid reader and skilled painter who enjoyed sharing her talents with others. Her family, friends, and Christian faith were cherished parts of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joan is survived by three children, Jere (Sheridan) Loyd, St. Joseph; Janice Jackson, St. Joseph; and David (Leslie) Loyd, Quincy; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

AMITY, Mo. – Erma L. Griffith, 86, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at a healthcare facility in Maysville, Mo.
She was born November 10, 1927 to Herman and Emma (Ladage) Linder in Cosby, Mo.
Erma married James Griffith on April 2, 1953. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1997.
She was a graduate of Savannah High School in 1945 and Northwest Missouri State University. Erma was a member of Maysville United Methodist Church and UMW, Psi Phi Sorority. She was also a past member of MSTA.
Mrs. Griffith was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Glenna Lee Nold.
Survivors: son, Lynn Griffith (Connie), Amity; grandsons, James (Clemma), Justin (Danielle), Brandon and Barry Griffith; great-grandchildren, Zach, Eli, Asher and Harper; sister, Dorothy Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ST. JOSEPH – James “Jammer” Carl Good Lamar, 52, passed away Monday October 6, 2014 at his home.
He was born August 15, 1962 in Denver, Colo. He married Patricia on May 20, 1998, and they shared 16 years together. He worked at the Deluxe Truck Stop for 13 years. He loved his dogs and mowing grass.
Jammer was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Good and Anetta.
He is survived by wife, Patricia Lamar of St. Joseph; daughter, Tisha (David) Worley; son, Nathaniel Rollett (Rachael Ferguson) of St. Joseph; grandson, Mike who was raised in the home; four other grandchildren, Dominick, Delany, Austin, Ceyton; two step-grandchildren, Meia and Shelby; a brother, Michael Leonardo of Dallas, Texas; and step-father, Bob Leonardo of St. Joseph.
