Charles Francis Payne

Charles  was born November 9, 1937, in Canton, South Dakota to Eli J. and Lenoa Lucille (Taylor)  Payne.

Formerly of Hopkins, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska, Charles was employed by the Crouse Cartage Company as a truck driver.

He married Sandra  Vance  on  September 12, 1961, in Glenwood, Iowa.

Charles  was a member of the Teamsters  for 28 years and the NRA for 25 years.

Preceding in death were his parents, sister Beverly Jean Harmon,  niece Sherry Irwin, and great granddaughter Abigale Payne.

Survivors include wife Sandra Jo Payne of their home, sons Stephen J. (Lois) Payne, and Charles J. (Lora) Payne, both of Omaha, Nebraska, brothers Arlo (Patsy) Payne, Moses Lake, Washington, and Dewayne (Lenora) Payne, Hampton, Iowa,  seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 Sunday, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 14 , 2013, at the Price Funeral Home Chapel with burial following  in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association in Charles’s  name.

Bonnie June Danner, 82, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at St Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Bonnie was born December 18, 1930, in Graham, Missouri to Byron and Zelma Faye (Hill) Estes.

A graduate of Maryville High School, Bonnie attended Northwest Missouri State University for two years. Bonnie was a homemaker and a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

She married James Monroe Danner, Jr on December 24, 1949, in Maryville, Missouri.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband James Danner (October 10, 1994), son Jay Scott Danner (September 20, 2008), sisters Betty Zapf, Thelma Kissinger, Dorothy Estes, and brothers Vern and Donald Estes.

Roger Merritt

Roger Merritt, 58, St. Joseph, MO passed away Tuesday October 8, 2013 at his home. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beulah Merritt and a brother, Keith Merritt. He is survived by five sons, Mathew, Robert, Shawn, Michael and Roger Merritt Jr., a sister, Kathy Stufflebean and his former wife, Leisa. Robert “Bob” Thomas Young

Robert “Bob” Thomas Young 77, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday October 8, 2013 at a Saint Joseph. He was born April 16, 1936 in Bedison, Missouri son of Leta & Thomas Young. He worked at Bob’s Skelly Service in the south side for many years, and also worked at Hausman Metal Works and was a courier with Association Couriers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, helping people, he was a very generous person. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Young, his parents, a son, Steve Young, and a sister, Dorotha E. Lager. He is survived by 2 sons, Jeff (Cindy) Young, and Tony (Terri) Young both of St. Joseph, MO, a brother, Doyle Young of Phoenix, AZ, three sisters, Marjorie L. Parker of Maryville, MO, Martha Frazee of Kansas City, MO, and Betty Julson of FL, four grandchildren, Travis, Tommy, Tyler Young, and Amanda Pflugradt, and 6 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Rupp Funeral Home. The fmaily will recieve friends from 10-11 am one hour prior to the service. Ronald Dee Nokes

Ronald Dee Nokes 73, of Rushville, Missouri passed away Wednesday October 9, 2013. He was born August 28, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri son of Ethel & Jesse Nokes. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #101. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors a friend Norman (Joy)Griffin of Rushville, MO, 2 sons, David, and Mike Nokes, and a daughter, Tracy Nokes. two, grandchildren, half-brother, Mike George, a sister, Jessie (Jerry) Joseph of Camdenton, MO. Margaret Ann (Sell) Flathman, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, October 7, 2013 at her home.

She was born September 14, 1925 to George and Anna (Stroh) Sell in Chester, Nebraska. She was Baptized September 27, 1925 at St. John’s Lutheran and sponsored by her Aunt and Uncle Henry Hock.

She married Elmer Herman Flathman on August 26, 1945 in Chester, Nebraska. He preceded her in death.

Margaret was a very active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran in Deshler, Nebraska; Faith Lutheran in Hebron, Nebraska; and St. Paul Lutheran in St. Joseph, Missouri. While active in her church she was in Ladies Aid, Sunday School Teacher, Altar Guild, sang in the choir and Bible studies.

She was supportive of her family, in baby-sitting, or whatever was needed, an avid collector and she loved baby-sitting and did so in Hebron, Plantation, and St. Joseph.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lillian Wegener and Martha Rose Willett; one brother, Arno Sell; one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Flathman; and one brother-in-law, William Wegner.

Survivors: daughter, Carrie Fett (Mike), St. Joseph, Missouri; son, Larry Flathman (Monica), Davenport, Iowa; Diane Molthan (Robert), Hebron, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Leona Sell, Chester, Nebraska; granddaughter, Melissa Palmer (David), Agency, Missouri; grandsons, Randy Russell (Christina), Parkville, Missouri, Chad Russell (Jennie), St. Joseph, Missouri, Shawn Molthan (Heidi), Lincoln, Nebraska, Tory Molthan (Becky), Catherine, Kansas, Brent Molthan, Lincoln, Nebraska, John Flathman, Des Moines, Iowa, Christopher Flathman, Davenport, Iowa; granddaughters, Anne Flathman, Davenport, Iowa and Susan Fairburn (Virgil), Ocala, Florida; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Ronnie Holland, 72, Plattsburg, Missouri died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Saint Luke’s Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1941 to Albert and Lena (Sisco) Holland in Memphis, Tennessee.

He married Doris Hall on June 2, 1962.

Ronnie worked as a purchasing director and retired from VETCO in St. Joseph, Missouri. He also served in the United States Air Force. Later in life he enjoyed watching old TV Westerns and visiting with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Don Holland.

Ronnie is survived by his wife; son, Ben Holland; daughters, Jan Holland and Dena Holland; grandson, Aaron; and granddaughters, Ruthie and Vivian.

C. Burl Wells, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri died October, 6, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 6, 1931 to James and Beatrice (Mulkey) Wells in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He married Myrtle L. Schoening on May 15, 1954. She survives of the home.

Burl proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned three battle stars. He worked in the freezer department at Armour’s for thirty-four years, the Buchanan County Highway Department for fifteen years, and then in 1991 he became a Rural Mail Carrier.

He was a member of King Hill Christian Church, King Hill Lodge #376 A.F. & A.M., King Hill Lodge O.E.S., General Grand Chapter O.E.S., and a lifetime member of American Legion #0359.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two step-brothers, James and Jack Wells; step-mother, Elida Wells; and sister-in-law, Juanita Wells.

Additional Survivors: daughter, Vicki John, Thornton, Colorado; son, Mickey Wells (Sintia), Comfort, Texas; four grandchildren, Shawn and Shanin John, and Shayne and Sebastian Wells; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Manson Wells; step-sister, Mary McCarter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James (Mike) Compton

A Jameson resident, James (Mike) Compton, passed away on October 5, 2013 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center. He was 62.

Services for James (Mike) Compton will be held Friday, Oct 11, 2013 at 10:00 am at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton, MO

Mike was born, January 21, 1951 to James (Jim) and Betty Lou (Simpson) Compton. He was a graduate of Penny High School in Hamilton, Mo and attended NWMSU in Maryville, MO for one year before signing with the KC Royals.

Mike was married to Roberta (Bobbie) Hardin on March 13, 1984.

Mike was employed at Trager Limestone as a heavy equipment operator and served in the United States Air Force.

Mike loved fishing, riding ATVs and was an avid sports fan. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his Spouse, Bobbie Compton of the home, 2 Daughters, Staci Ireland (Kevin) of Trenton and Candice Hanks (Lee) of Gower.

Mother, Betty Lou Compton of Gallatin, a brother, Charles (Bubby) Compton of Mirable and a sister, Nancy White of Gower.

5 Grandchildren, Taurren Bottcher (Jacob) of Bethany, Trisha Greenwood (Ivan) of Breckenridge, Trent Ireland of Trenton, Allyson and Matthew Hanks of Gower. 2 Great Grandchildren, Emilyn Bottcher and Rex Greenwood as well as several Uncles, Aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The family has suggested donations to the Penny High School Alumni Association to purchase a new scoreboard for the football field. Donations may be left at the Funeral Home.

James Christopher “Chris” Pullen

Chris Pullen, 27, Santa Monica, California, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, October 4, 2013 at UCLA Medical Center.

He was born July 4, 1986 to Ray and Janet (Long) Pullen.

Chris was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Central High School in 2005 and in 2009 from the University of Missouri Cum laude with a Masters in Accountancy. He ran cross country and track in both high school and college. During his time at Mizzou he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and also was awarded the “39 Who Count” award. He most recently was a Senior Associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory, LLC in Los Angeles.

Survivors: parents; maternal grandmother, Ruth Long, St. Joseph, Missouri; uncle, Ken Long (Esther); cousins, Brad and Hillary; aunt, Jean Coyle (Pete); uncles, Art Pullen (Shelly), Terry Pullen, and John Pullen (Halie); and numerous other cousins and close friends.
