In the beginning, God created Cozetta Marie Foster born August 22nd 1948 in Leavenworth, KS to the union of Bishop Howard Lee and Juanita B. Stone. From this union she was one of 9 children. On August 4th 2013, Lady Foster was called home to Glory to be with Jesus.
At an early age she was baptized in Jesus name at the Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic Faith. Although she was raised in Atchison KS, she spent 47 years of her life in St. Joseph, MO married to District Elder James P. Foster, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Robyn Alford, and a brother Howard Stone Jr.
Surviving are husband James, daughters Toni (L.B) Galbearth, Kimberly (Robert) Warren, Angela (Bryan) Alford, Cynthia (Marty) McCallon, and her sons James (Roberta) Foster III, Caleb (Micah) Foster, and David Foster. She also had 13 beloved grandchildren.
She received her B.S.E. from MWSU and had nearly completed her Masters from MWMSU. Mrs. Foster worked as a St. Joseph school teacher at Noyes school, owned the Happy Hearts Daycare, wrote over 14 children’s books and twenty-two gospel songs. Many who heard her sing said she had the voice of an angel.
She was a licensed minister with Aenon/Victorious Life Bible Institute, and served her community in many capacities; Secretaries for Ministerial Alliance and NWDC General Body, MidCity Excellence board, member of Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society, Minister’s Wives of St. Joseph, Black Archives Museum Hall of Fame Member, and nominated for Teacher of the Year.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Word Of Life Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. James Marshall, 74, Overland Park, Kansas died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at a healthcare facility in Overland Park, Kansas.

He was born April 28, 1939 to Wesley and Eva (Beck) Marshall in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was a delivery driver and Route Supervisor for Guy’s Foods, an exterminator, and a delivery driver for Wells Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd Marshall; and a sister, Laverne Marshall.

Survivors: son, Harold “Bill” Marshall, and his wife, Kelly, Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Susie Marshall, and her husband Bill Hall, St. Joseph, Missouri; sons, Robert Marshall and James Lee Marshall; and four step-grandchildren, Kassie and Lauren Bradley, Olathe, Kansas, and Braden and Maeva Rew, Olathe, Kansas.

L. Leroy Salmon, 67, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.
He was born November 29, 1945 to William and Mildred (Terry) Salmon.

Mr. Salmon served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force for twenty-seven years as a Senior Master Sergeant, eighteen years with CB&Q, and later Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, serving many positions from yard clerk to regional manager.

He was involved in many Masonic organizations and bodies. In the Blue Lodge Bodies he was a member of Zeredatha Lodge #189, A.F. & A.M., where he served as Worshipful Master, Charity Zeredatha Lodge #189, A.F. & A.M. since 2007, where he served as secretary, Cosby Lodge #600, A.F. & A.M., where he served as Past Worshipful Master in 2009 and 2010, Brotherhood Lodge #269, A.F. & A.M., Missouri Lodge of Research, where he served as Senior Deacon, and Grand Lodge of Missouri, where he served as District Deputy Grand Master from 2011-2012.

In the High-Twelve organization he was a member of the High Twelve Club #49, where he served as President and the Missouri High Twelve Association, where he served as First Vice President.

In the Scottish Rite bodies he was a member of the St. Joseph Valley as a Scottish Rite Mason, Past Wise master of Rose Croix, Venerable Master of Lodge of Perfection, and Children Learning Disability Clinic as a Past Chairman. Mr. Salmon received his thirty-third degrees honor in 2009.

In the York Rite Bodies he was a member of the Grand Standard Bearer as a Grand Commandery of Missouri from 2012-2013, Mitchell Chapter #14, Royal Arch Masons as Past Excellent High Priest, St. Joseph Council #9, Past Member of Royal and Select Masters, Hugh DePayne Commandery #4, Past Commander of Knights Templar, Allied Masonic Degrees, a Sovereign Master in the Pony Express Council #350, a Viceroy with the St. Joseph Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, Missouri College of Societas Rosicruciana, Edwin C. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was born September 3, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of Pauline & Wallace McQueen. He graduated from Gower high school and married Barbara Thompson on April 9, 1967, and they shared 46 years together. He retired from Rhone-Poulenc chemical company after 27 years of service as a Chemical Handler. He enjoyed long car rides, woodworking, and loved making puzzles.

He was a member of the Three Angels 7th Day Adventist Church. Carl was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife, Barbara McQueen of the home, his children: Gidget (Bryan) Lynch of St. Joseph, Carl McQueen Jr. of Florida, Sandy (Dex) Blum of St. Joseph, and Amy Jo (Clint) Edwards of Cameron, MO, nine grandchildren, Alxia Blum, Brittany Lynch, Steven Lynch, Taig Blum, Zane Edwards, Dalton Lynch, Colin Edwards, Caleb Lynch, and Emily Edwards, and a great grandson Ryland, he also had several brothers & sisters as well as his beloved dog Daisy. Barbara Mae (Gaines) Miller, 83, formerly of Maryville, Missouri, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at St. Luke’s East, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Barbara was born July 26, 1930, in Maryville to Willard Monroe and Mabel Mae (Craig) Gaines.

She married Dale Miller on May 26, 1949, in Maryville, Missouri. He preceded Barbara in death on February 16, 2006.

A graduate of Junction City, Kansas High School, she also attended Northwest Missouri State University . Barbara was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship, Maryville.

She also had been a member of the Nodaway County University of Missouri Extention Young Economists.

Preceding her in death were her husband and parents.

Survivors include five children: Nancy (Charles Petersen) Miller, Raymore, Missouri, Robert (Teresa) Miller, Meadville, Missouri, Sarah (David) Campbell, Lee’s Summit, Catherine Palmer, Maryville, Michele (Curtis) Sharp, Lee’s Summit; grandchildren Chris (Laura) Campbell, Andrea (Tim) McPherson, Melanie (Shea) Hunt, Tracy (Steve) Meunier, Trisha Campbell, Adam Palmer, Madison and Kaitlyn Pruitt; great grandchildren, Aaron and Brayden McPherson, Carynn Campbell, Landon and Jamison Hunt, Mason Allen and Abigail Meunier.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Friday, September 6, 2013 at First Christian Church, Maryville, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville.

Hershel L. Taylor

He was born on September 2, 1945 in St Joseph, Missouri, son of Betty and Hershel Taylor. He grew up in a military family, traveling the world. Hershel graduated from high school and immediately joined the US Army and served his country honorably. Hershel became a warrant officer Captain, learning to fly helicopters. He flew helicopters, ran many search and rescue missions, saving and helping many. Hershel served two years with distinction as an Army Helicopter pilot in Vietnam. For his service he was awarded the NDSM, GCM, ARAVBad, VSM, VCM w/ Dev 60 the AM, BSM and the ARCOM medals, and commendations. Upon leaving the military Hershel worked in retail and finally as a truck driver. Hershel was a quiet soul who loved his family and was always there to help. Hershel was preceded in death by his parents, Betty L. Taylor and Hershel L. Taylor and two sisters, Diana M. Westover and Connie K. Taylor. Survivors include six sisters, Linda Waters of Grayson, GA, Sharon Mayes of Sacramento, CA, Karen Brown of Topeka, KS, Jeanette Fowler of Loganville, GA, Patricia Shinouskis of Cottage Grove, MN, and Teresa Beres of Portales, NM and other nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday at 10:30 AM, with a funeral service to be conducted at 11:30. The interment will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, with Military honors, under the auspices of the United States Army.

He worked at the Carpenter gang at Armour and Company, in the body shop at Keith Marsh Chevrolet, he also owned and operated Jim Richardson Body Shop in Faucett Missouri as well as farming and raising cattle.

He enjoyed former member NW Missouri Street Rod Assn., Agency Community Center Board, Faucett Cemetery Board, the ALPCA Automobile License Plate Collectors Assn. Jim loved to build things, go to auctions and garage sales and he was an avid collector of license plates. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife, Mary Richardson of the home a son, Ronnie Richardson of Faucett, MO, daughter, Christine Barnett of St. Joseph, MO, step-son, Kenny Smith of Gilman, IA, step-daughter, Jennifer Humphreys of St. Joseph, MO, four grandchildren, five great grand, four, and step-great grand.

James (“Jim”) M. Kneib, 56, St. Joseph, died surrounded by family and friends on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.  Jim was a loving and devoted son to his mother and father Ruth C. (Reardon) Kneib  and Earl G. Kneib of St. Joseph, who survive. Survivors include, his sister Susan Kneib

Hubbard, (Rick) Kansas City, MO; god-mother, Florita Allgaier, of St. Joseph; uncle, Wayne Reardon, of Easton, MO; and aunt, Geraldine Fisher, Gower, MO, and many cousins.

Jim was born on November 9, 1956 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Cathedral School establishing a friendship in 7 collaborator in many projects, Phil Klawuhn. Jim graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1975 where he was Student Council President and excelled in speech and debate. He also attended Creighton University, Omaha, NE and Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.

At an early age, Jim developed an interest in politics and government. He served as an intern on the staff of Congressman Jerry Litton who said of Jim that he was one of the brightest young men he had ever met.

Jim also served as assistant to Deputy Director Jim Sprake in the Missouri Dept. of Agriculture and to Director of Administration Paul Hurst. During that time, Jim also served as assistant director of the Missouri State Fair.

Upon returning from college, Jim became involved in real estate and investment in development properties with Earl and Ruth, particularly in the Frederick/Riverside

corridor and in Eastern Buchanan County. In later years, he oversaw his family’s farming operation.

He was also involved in the family business that manufactured the Kneib “Pop-Up” hay bail loader. Jim played an instrumental part in the campaign for restoration of the Buchanan County Courthouse.

Jim served in finance roles for numerous political campaigns including Jim Russell for Congress and Ken Rothman for Governor, who remained close friends.

Jim enjoyed fishing, trapshooting and boating. He was an avid traveler taking many trips to Germany to visit Kneib family members located through his genealogy studies and to

his favorite vacation spots in Costa Rica including with his fishing buddy and dear friend, Dr. Jay McMillen. Jim was a devoted Catholic, a member of Cathedral parish and served on the Property Committee of the Diocese of Kansas City – St. Joseph. He and his family have also been significant contributors to Conception Abbey.

Jim was a dedicated friend to many during his lifetime. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends but his spirit will live on in their lives and in the many endeavors in which he was involved.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Bishop Robert Finn, D.D. at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7 at St. Joseph Cathedral, 519 N. 10 St. Joseph, MO. The Mass will be concelebrated by Abbott Gregory Polan, OSB, Fr. Matthew Rotert, and Fr. Benedict Neenan, OSB. A parish rosary led by Fr. Matthew Benjamin will be recited at 6:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel, 3609 Frederick Ave., St. Joseph, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Joseph Cathedral School. Interment following service at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Abigail M. Shepherd, infant daughter of Doug and Cherie Shepherd of St. Joseph passed away Friday August 30, 2013 at a hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Surviving are her parents Doug and Cherie Shepherd, Maternal grandparents, Mike and Barbara Connor, Napoleon, MO; Paternal Grandmother, Pat Shepherd, St. Joseph; and four aunts and spouses, Debbie “Don” McCamy, Charla “Rod” Ewart, Nancy “Bill” Healey, and Susan “Mark” Lambros.

Abigail is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Robert Shepherd and one uncle, Darrell Shepherd.

Graveside services and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the King Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
