Mustangs rally past Chillicothe Monday 4-2

The St. Joseph Mustangs stayed perfect against Chillicothe this season as they rallied to defeat the Mudcats 4-2 Monday night at Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball, who is 3-0 against Chillicothe this season, improves to 23-8 overall this season and 17-7 in the MINK League.

The Mudcats scored single runs in the second and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead, but the Mustangs rallied to tie the game with two runs in the sixth inning and then took the lead for good in the seventh with two more runs.

Brody Santilli drove in the two runs in the sixth inning with a single, and then Jacob Richardson and Easton Fortuna each drove in a run in the seventh.

Santilli and Brady Anderson led St. Joseph with two hits each.

Steve D’Amico went eight innings to get the win as he allowed two runs on five hits. Jake Purl struck out the side in the ninth for his second save of the season.

Earlier Monday, seven Mustangs were named the North roster for the MINK League All-Star game Thursday at Chillicothe. DH Josh Williams, C Brady Anderson, 1B Drew Standifer, OF Jacob Richardson, P Michael Lydon-Lorson, P Nikko Pablo and P Steve D’Amico will represent St. Joe on Thursday.

The Mustangs play their annual 4th of July game Tuesday at home against Sedalia. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joseph gets blanked by the Ban Johnson All-Star team

The St. Joseph Mustangs suffered their first non-league loss of the season Saturday as they fell at home to a team of all-stars from the Ban Johnson League in Kansas City 2-0.  St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team drops to 22-8 this season.

The Mustangs were two-hit by the All-Stars as Josh Williams had a single in the second inning and Brody Santilli added a single in the ninth.

Matt Diaz started for St. Joseph and lasted eight innings. He allowed two runs on six hits and he struck out nine.  The Ban Johnson All-Stars scored a run in the first inning and added one more in the seventh.

The Mustangs have an off day Sunday before hosting Chillicothe Monday at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.

Mustangs roll to 10-1 non-league win over Regal Plastics

The St. Joseph Mustangs cruised to a 10-1 non-league victory Friday night at Phil Welch Stadium as they defeated Regal Plastics from the Ban Johnson League in Kansas City.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 22-7 this season.

The Mustangs jumped out to a quick lead with three runs in the first innings and then broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning.

Brady Anderson had three hits and two RBI for St. Joseph, while Josh Williams and Derek Hussey added two hits each. Williams also drove in three runs.

Mustangs’ starter Jake Van Vacter threw six innings to earn the victory. He allowed just one run on five hits and he struck out ten batters.

St. Joe is back at home Saturday as they play another non-league game against an all-star team made up of players from the teams in the Ban Johnson League. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. from Phil Welch Stadium.

Mustangs game at Clarinda postponed because of weather

The St. Joseph Mustangs had their game at Clarinda postponed Wednesday because of the bad weather in the Clarinda, Iowa area.

The game will be made up on Tuesday, July 25 at Municipal Stadium and is now the last game of the season for St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team.

The Mustangs, who are 21-7 this season and 16-7 in the MINK League, return home Thursday as they entertain the North Kansas City Apartments Giants in a non-league game inside Phil Welch Stadium. The Giants are 14-6 this season in Ban Johnson League play.

The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. Thursday and the game will be broadcast on 680 KFEQ AM.

St. Joseph falls on the road at Clarinda 6-3

The St. Joseph Mustangs had their three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday as they lost at Clarinda 6-3.

St. Joe’s collegaite summer baseball team is now 21-7 this season and 16-7 in MINK League play.

The loss also snapped the Mustangs five-game road winning streak, but despite the loss St. Joseph is 9-2 in their last 11 games.

The Mustangs still lead the North Division by three games over Sedalia, while Clarinda is in fourth place. The A’s are 12-11 overall this season and 8-10 in the MINK League.

St. Joe and Clarinda play again Wednesday in Clarinda, Iowa and the first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. from Municipal Stadium.

Mustangs rally for a 3-1 win at Chillicothe

The St. Joseph Mustangs won their third straight game and they’ve now won nine of ten after a victory Monday night at Chillicothe 3-1.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 21-6 and 16-6 in the MINK League.

Chillicothe got a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the second inning by Christian Hoplock to take a 1-0 lead.

The score remained that way until the top of the eighth inning. With one out, Joshua Lincoln was hit by a pitch and then Brady Anderson singled to put two men on base. The Mustangs then got back-to-back triples from Colton Pogue and Drew Standifer to take their first lead of the game.

St. Joseph starter Josh Monson didn’t’ factor in the decision as he allowed one run on four hits in five innings of work. Jaren Kutzke, Nikko Pablo and Jake Purl threw four scoreless innings of relief as Purl earned his first save of the season.

Brady Anderson had two hits and a run scored for the Mustangs.  Lincon, Anderson and Colton Pogue each scored a run, while Pogue had two runs batted in.

St. Joseph is back on the road Tuesday as they play at Clarinda. the first pitch is at 7:00 p.m.

St. Joseph rolls past Jefferson City Sunday 12-4

The St. Joseph Mustangs won their second straight game Sunday as they went to Jefferson City and defeated the Renegades 12-4.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is 3-0 against Jefferson City this season and they’ve now won eight of their last nine games.

The Mustangs are 20-6 on the season and 15-6 in the MINK League, and they now have a 2.5 game lead on Sedalia in the North Division.

St. Joseph continues its four-game road trip Monday as they play at Chillicothe. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and it’ll be broadcast on 680 KFEQ.

Mustangs overcome 4-0 deficit to defeat Clarinda

The St. Joseph Mustangs got back in the win column Saturday night as they defeated Clardina 9-7 inside Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team had its six-game win streak snapped Friday by Sedalia, but with the win Saturday they improve to 19-6 this season and 14-6 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs had to rally Saturday as they fell behind 4-0 in the top of the third inning. St. Joseph answered back with nine unanswered runs as they scored three in the bottom of the third, two in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth.

Brady Anderson had two doubles and three RBI to lead the Mustangs’ offense, while Matt Wollnik added two hits. Brody Santilli scored three times as well.

Michael Lydon-Lorson grinded through six innings to improve to 3-0 on the mound. He gave up four earned runs and seven hits, but struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.

The Mutangs are on the road Sunday as they play at Jefferson City. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. from Vivian Field.

St. Joseph’s win streak ends with loss to Sedalia

The St. Joseph Mustangs had their six-game winning streak snapped Friday night at home as they lost to Sedalia 6-2.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team falls to 18-6 and they’re 13-6 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs got a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning from Brady Anderson, but that was all they’d get and they only had four hits after the first.

Sedalia scored one run in the fifth inning and took the lead for good with a five-run sixth.

Jake Van Vacter suffered the loss as he allowed six runs and eight hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out 10 and walked just one.

Anderson finished the game 2-for-4, while Joshua Lincoln, Colton Pogue, Drew Standifer and Jacob Richardson added one hit each.

The Mustangs will try and get back in the win column Saturday as they host Clarinda inside Phil Welch Stadium. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and it’ll be broadcast on 680 KFEQ AM.

St. Joseph wins sixth straight with 20-5 victory at Jefferson City

The St. Joseph Mustangs won at Jefferson City Thursday 20-5 for their sixth consecutive victory.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 18-5 and 13-5 in MINK League play.

There were no statistics available Thursday night, but the 20 runs match the most the Mustangs have scored this season. It’s also the seventh game this season in which St. Joe has scored in double figures.

The Mustangs return home Friday as they host Sedalia. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.
