Mustangs stay hot with 10-3 win over Chillicothe

The St. Joseph Mustangs won their fifth consecutive game Wednesday as they defeated Chillicothe 10-3 inside Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is now 17-5 this season and 12-5 in MINK League play.

The Mustangs scored four two-out runs in the second inning and led 5-1 after three. The Mudcats pulled to within two runs, 5-3, in the top of the seventh inning, but St. Joseph pulled away with five runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Brady Anderson led the Mustangs’ 12-hit attack as he went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Brody Santilli had two hits and four runs batted in, while Drew Standifer, Colton Pogue and Jacob Richardson scored two runs each.

St. Joe starter Osvaldo Raya moved to 4-0 this season as he allowed just one earned run and seven hits in six innings of work. Nikko Pablo threw three scoreless innings of relief to cap off the win.

The Mustangs are back on the road Thursday as they play at Jefferson City. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. from Vivion Field.

St. Joseph defeats KC Monarchs to extend win streak to four

The St. Joseph Mustangs rolled to their fourth consecutive victory Tuesday as they defeated the Kansas City Monarchs 5-1.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is now 5-0 against non-league opponents this season and 16-5 overall.

The Mustangs scored single runs in the first two innings to take an early lead. They added two runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth inning.

Joshua Lincoln had two hits for St. Joseph, while Drew Standifer scored twice. Louis Mele and Mike Foley each had one RBI.

Josh Monson earned the win as he threw seven scoreless innings and he allowed only three hits. Monson struck out three and walked two.

The Mustangs get back into MINK League play Wednesday as they host Chillicothe for the first time this season. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium and it’ll be broadcast on 680 KFEQ AM.

Mustangs rout Jefferson City 14-2 for third straight win

The St. Joseph Mustangs were on the road Sunday and won their third consecutive game as they defeated Jefferson City 14-2.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 15-5 this season and 11-5 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs raced out to a quick lead as they scored two runs in each of the first three innings and eventually led 13-0 after five. St. Joseph has now scored in double figures five times this season and they’re averaging 7.7 runs per game.

The Renegades pitching staff struggled Sunday as they walked 15 batters and the Mustangs scored six runs on bases loaded walks.

Louis Mele led St. Joe’s 14-hit attack as he finished 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Josh Lincoln added three hits, while Brody Santilli had three runs batted in.

Steve D’Amico earned the win on the mound for the Mustangs as he allowed one earned run on four hits in seven innings of work. He struck out seven and walked three.

The Mustangs are off Monday and play a non-league game Tuesday at home against the Kansas City Monarchs. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joseph split doubleheader at home against Ozark

The St. Joseph Mustangs split a doubleheader at home Thursday against Ozark, winning game one 4-2 before losing the nightcap 6-5.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is now 12-5 and 9-5 in the MINK League.

In game one, the Mustangs scored single runs in each of the first four innings to take a 4-0 lead, and it stayed that way until the top of the seventh inning.

Ozark scored twice in the seventh but that was all they’d get as St. Joseph’s Michael Lydon-Lorson threw a complete game to get the win. He allowed two runs on four hits and is now 3-0 this season.

Easton Fortuna and Josh William each had two hits and an RBI to lead the Mustangs, while Pat Dillon also drove in a run.

In game two, St. Joseph and Ozark were tied 2-2 until the seventh inning before the Generals scored four runs to take control of the game.

The Mustangs rallied with three runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to pull within one run, but they fell short of a sweep.

John Millan suffered his first loss of the season as he allowed six runs on five hits in 6.1 innings of work.

Brett Marr led St. Joe’s six-hit attack as he finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Drew Standifer tripled and drove in three runs.

The Mustangs are back at home Friday night as they host Ozark in the final game of their three-game series. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.

Mustangs finish road trip with 8-5 win at Joplin

The St. Joseph Mustangs wrapped up their five-game road trip Wednesday with an 8-5 victory at Joplin.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team went 3-2 on their road trip as they’re now 11-4 this season and 8-4 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs raced out to a quick lead as they scored five runs in the first inning and held off a late Joplin rally.

The Outlaws scored two runs in the seventh inning to pull within 6-5 before St. Joseph pulled away in the top of the ninth with two runs of their own.

Drew Standifer and Jacob Richardson led the Mustangs offense with two hits each, while Jeremiah Figueroa drove in three runs.

St. Joe starter Josh Monson earned the win as he allowed three runs on five hits in five innings of work. Kyle Uhrich threw a scoreless ninth for his fourth save of the season.

The St. Joseph Mustangs split a doubleheader at Ozark Tuesday, winning game one 2-1 before falling in the nightcap 6-1.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is now 10-4 this season and 7-4 in the MINK League.

In game one, Drew Standifer and Louis Mele each drove in a run in the fourth inning to put the Mustangs up 2-0 and that was all the St. Joseph pitch staff would need.

Osvaldo Raya is now 3-0 this summer as he allowed one run on seven hits in five innings of work. Nikko Pablo threw 1.2 scoreless innings and Kyle Uhrich got the final out of the game for his third save of the season.

In game two, the Mustangs scored one run in the top of the first inning, but that was all they’d get. Ozark tied the game in the bottom of the first and then broke the game open with three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning.

Matt Diaz suffered the loss as he went 4.2 innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits.

St. Joe had only four singles in the game. Mele had two hits and drove in the only run.

The Mustangs wrap up their five-game road trip Wednesday as they play at Joplin. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. inside Joe Becker Stadium.

St. Joseph gets a two-hit shutout victory at Joplin Monday

The St. Joseph Mustangs bounced back from a walk-off loss Sunday at Nevada to defeat Joplin 8-0 on the road Monday at Joe Becker Stadium.

The Mustangs improve to 9-3 this season and 6-3 in the MINK League.

St. Joseph’s pitching staff limited the Outlaws to just two hits on the night. Starter Steve D’Amico threw seven scoreless innings as he struck out 13 batters and walked four. Eleazar Rojas and Billy Olsen each threw one scoreless inning of relief to cap off the win.

Kyle Uhrich homered and drove in three to lead the Mustangs’ 14-hit attack. Brody Santilli, Brady Anderson, Josh Williams and Brett Marr added two hits each.

St. Joseph travels to Ozark Tuesday for a doubleheader against the Generals. The first pitch of game one is set for 5:30 p.m.

Mustangs suffer another walk-off loss at Nevada

The St. Joseph Mustangs suffered their second straight walk-off loss on a Sunday as they fell at Nevada 4-3. Last week, St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team lost 6-5 on a walk-off single at Clarinda.

The Mustangs fall to 8-3 this season and 5-3 in the MINK League. Nevada had been winless prior to Sunday’s victory as they improve to 1-10 and 1-8 in league play.

The Griffons jumped out to a quick lead as they scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but St. Joseph answered right back with three of their own in the top of the second to tie the game.

The game remained 3-3 until the ninth inning when Mustangs starter Jake Van Vacter gave up two singles before he was replaced with two outs. Logan Campbell came on in relief to try and get the final out to force extra innings, but Nevada’s Kainalu Pitoy came through with a single to end the game.

Van Vacter suffered the loss as he allowed four runs on seven hits in 8.2 innings of work. He struck out seven and walked one.

The Mustangs had just seven singles against the Griffon pitching staff. Jeremiah Figueroa and Easton Fortuna each had an RBI, while Kyle Uhrich, Drew Standifer and Pat Dillon scored one run a piece.

St. Joseph remains on the road Monday as they play at Joplin. It’s the second game of their five-game road trip as the first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.

St. Joseph wins second straight at home against Joplin

The St. Joseph Mustangs won their second consecutive game against Joplin Saturday inside Phil Welch Stadium Saturday 9-4. St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team won two-of-three in the series with the Outlaws as they improve to 8-2 this season and 5-2 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs led wire-to-wire Saturday as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings. Joplin pulled to within two runs twice, once in the fourth and once more in the sixth inning, but St. Joseph answered back in the bottom halves of those innings to extend their lead.

Kyle Uhrich homered in the Mustang’s three-run sixth inning as he finished 2-5 with two runs and three RBI. Jacob Richardson added three hits, Josh Williams went 2-4 with two RBI and Louis Mele scored three runs.

John Millan is now 2-0 on the season as he went seven innings to get the win for St. Joe. He allowed two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out two and walking just one.

The Mustangs begin a five-game road trip Sunday as they play at Nevada. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m.

Mustangs bounce back and defeat Joplin Friday 8-4

The St. Joseph Mustangs bounced back from a loss to Joplin Thursday as they defeated the Outlaws 8-4 Friday inside Phil Welch Stadium to even their series at one game a piece.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is now 7-2 this season and 4-2 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs gave starting pitcher Michael Lydon-Lorson a lot of run support early as they scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, three more in the third inning and one run in the fourth. They built an 8-0 lead before Joplin scored four runs off the St. Joseph bullpen. The Outlaws scored one run in the eighth inning and three in the ninth.

Lydon-Lorson threw seven scoreless innings to move to 2-0 this season. He stuck out nine and walked two, and gave up just six hits. Lydon-Lorson had yet to allow a run in 16 innings this season.

Jacob Richardson and Jeremiah Figueroa had two hits each to lead the Mustangs’ offense, while Richardson and Brody Santilli added two runs a piece.

The Mustangs and Outlaws play again Saturday night inside Phil Welch Stadium. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN 1550 AM.
