At 7-8, Tiny Sturgess is the tallest Harlem Globetrotter ever.  He is taller than basketball superstar Yao Ming and the previous tallest Globetrotter, Dut Mayar, who are both 7-6.

Tiny was also officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the World’s Tallest Professional Basketball Player.

A video poster on YouTube claims photographic evidence of a massive UFO, tethered to the Sun, which is drawing solar energy from it.

ADG is a paranormal investigative organization in the UK, which is well known for provocative stances on unexplained mysteries. In this instance they’ve taken a recent NASA photo of the Sun and are claiming there is a gigantic alien mothership tethered to it, drawing energy.

One of the abducted boys featured in the viral video demanding the capture of infamous warlord Joseph Kony is now a man and says the time for justice has arrived.

CNN reports Jacob Acaye revisited the village where he was abducted by Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army.

His story has touched millions since it was featured in “Kony 2012,” a video from the Invisible Children charity that created a global online buzz and renewed public interest in capturing Kony.

Critics have questioned the film’s accuracy and warned that it oversimplified the situation in Uganda.

The organization that produced the video is now defending itself from critics of the film’s reporting and questioning where the money went.

Michigan lawmakers last year vowed to crack down when they heard an $850,000 lottery winner was buying groceries with food stamps. Now comes news of another lucky player getting food on the public dime — and the Legislature still hasn’t passed a law to easily detect and clamp down on the abuse.

“We were on this already but now we have two cases. I’m hoping it will hurry us along,” state Rep. Dave Agema, a Republican from western Michigan, said Thursday.

“It demonstrates the entitlement attitude we have in the United States. They want something for nothing.”

Amanda Clayton, 24, of Lincoln Park, chose a $700,000 lump sum, before taxes, last fall after winning a $1 million jackpot on “Make Me Rich!” a Michigan lottery game show. A Detroit TV station approached her this week and asked why she still was using a debit-style card to make purchases under the food-stamp program.

“I thought that they would cut me off, but since they didn’t I thought maybe it was OK because I’m not working,” Clayton, a mother of two, told WDIV. “I feel that it’s OK because I have no income, and I have bills to pay. I have two houses.”

 

 

Scientists at the NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory posted this video one of the most powerful solar flares Thursday, an X5.4-class flare.

X-class flares are major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms.

It appears that right after the large X5.4 flare another slightly lower, X1 flare (5 times smaller) occurred. You can clearly see a wave going across the Sun.

They are still gathering data and the Space Weather Forecast Lab will be having updates available soon.

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) blasted President Obama Wednesday complaining about the administration’s energy policy, or lack thereof. Boehner complains that the Obama Administration has stifled the Keystone Pipeline, and delayed or cut back production in Alaska, on public land, and in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.

Congressman Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) continues to take the Republicans to task over what he has called their deceptions about Keystone and oil prices. Markey says there are no guarantees that any of the oil moved via Keystone to the Gulf Coast would stay in the United States. Markey offers an amendment to require the oil be sold in or to the U.S., but he says Republicans are balking at that.

Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) tells us it’s not a question of “if” the pipeline is built, but “when.”
