For the second time this week, the St. Joseph Mustangs bounced back from a loss at Nevada by going back on the road and defeating a MINK League team convincingly.
Friday, St. Joe’s summer college baseball team took down the defending South Division Champion Sedalia, 5-1.
The Mustangs grabbed an early lead with two runs in the first inning and they added three more in the fourth.
That was more than enough offense for starting pitcher Adam Maddox as he allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work. It was the first start of the season for the Mustangs’ Pitcher of the Year in 2010.
St. Joseph had seven different players with one hit each. Spiker Helms led the way with three RBI and one runs scored, while Mark Robinette drove in a run as well.
The Mustangs improve to 11-2 this season and 8-2 in the MINK League. They return home Saturday night as they entertain Nevada inside Phil Welch Stadium. The first pitch is schedule for 7:00 p.m.
