St Louis Living Still Cheap

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis continues to be one of the least expensive places to live among big metropolitan areas.

The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness compared cost of living data for more than 300 U.S. metro areas.

Among the 25 largest, St. Louis has the second-lowest cost of living. Only San Antonio, Texas, is less expensive.

The biggest advantage in St. Louis is the cost of housing — about three-fourths the national average and tied with Dallas for lowest among big metro areas.

The only thing that costs more in St. Louis than the national average is utilities, at 108 percent of the average.
