Police have identified the woman who was killed in a three-vehicle accident in south St Joseph Wednesday afternoon.
Captain Matt Rock of the St Joseph Police Department says Joellen Abbott, 40, of St Joseph, was killed when her minivan was hit by a stolen pickup truck at 22nd Street and 11th Street Road.
Five other people were injured and required hospital treatment.
Rock said they suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Rock says the 16-year-old driver of the pickup truck, and another juvenile, are being held in juvenile detention pending an ongoing investigation into possible criminal charges in the case.
It’s not clear if the two suspects will face charges in juvenile or adult court.
Rock says the truck, a 1996 Chevy pickup, was reported stolen from rural Buchanan County earlier in the day Wednesday.
He says a police car had passed the stolen truck a few moments before the crash. The truck was reported to have been traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer was not following.
