One teenager was killed and another seriously hurt after a Worth County rollover accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident Friday night claimed the life of Cody Schrock, 17, of Grant City. Schrock’s passenger, Justin Smith, 17, of Grant City was seriously hurt, and was transported by ambulance to the Albany Regional Medical Center.

In a letter posted on the Worth County R-3 School District Web site, Superintendent Mike Rennels announced that there would be no classes Tuesday so that the community might attend the Cody’s funeral.

Services will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Grant City. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the services will begin at 11:00 a.m.

On Monday, the district made available counselors, mental health professionals, and local clergy to speak with students who needed to talk.

Traffic investigators say Schrock was driving his Chrysler Lebaron northbound on Route Y northwest of Allendale just before 8:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control of the vehicle. The car left the east side of the roadway and overturned at least twice, ejecting both occupants. The vehicle came to rest on its top facing southeast off the east side of the roadway.
