A central Missouri jury has convicted a Moberly man of rape and other charges in a case in which a woman was assaulted and held in a freezer.
The Randolph County jury found Sean M. Williams guilty Thursday of being an accessory to kidnapping and first-degree assault, forcible sodomy and forcible rape. Sentencing is May 3.
Police had said it all stemmed from a drug deal that escalated.
Court documents say the 22-year-old victim was kidnapped at a Moberly hotel and taken to an abandoned basement. Prosecutors said the woman was beaten, trapped in an old deep freezer and raped.
The woman eventually escaped.
Four other co-defendants pleaded guilty to various charges.
