Eyewitnesses have surfaced in the investigation of the fatal stabbing of Clinton Justice last December.  Both have been charged with tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors have filed charges of second-degree murder against Kim Keith, 32, of St Joseph.

Detective Gregg Lewis of the St Joseph Police Department says they recently received a tip, that led them to an eye-witness, who led them to the suspect.

“We spoke to the man soon afterward, then we received a tip that we should talk to him again,” Lewis said.

 

As it turns out, the man saw the homicide at Justice’s apartment December 8, 2012.

Justice was found in his apartment at 136 Park Lane by his daughter December 8th. He died from apparent stab wounds. Police later found a weapon believed used in the crime “some distance” from where the crime occured. Laboratory testing on that weapon continues, Lewis said.

Detective Lewis says they had spoken with the eye-witness early in the investigation.

“Some witnesses came forward and gave us some information that led us to talk to some people we’d talked to early on in the investigation,” he said.

“We talked to those people again, and with that information we were able to determine a person who was present witnessed Mr Keith inflict the injury on Mr Justice.”

Keith is being held in the Buchanan County Jail in lieu of $250 thousand bail.

Formal arraignment is scheduled Tuesday, April 9.
