A 75-year-old Savannah woman is dead following a traffic accident Monday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Julia Bucher failed to yield the right of way while crossing Business-71 highway just south of Savannah. Her Buick was hit on the driver’s side by a Ford van traveling southbound on the highway at about 5pm Monday.

Bucher was pronounced dead at Heartland, where her passenger, 82-year-old Francis Bucher, is in serious condition.

The driver of the van was not injured.
