The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a St Joseph man who was hit by a train early Saturday morning.

According to the patrol, George W. Holmes III, 42, was killed when he was struck by a Burlington Northern freight train near the Andrew-Buchanan county line.

The incident occured just before 3 a.m. Saturday near County Road 385 and County Line Road.
