The Buchanan County Social Welfare Board observes its 100th anniversary this week. Executive Director Linda Judah says the health clinic serves residents earning up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For a single person, that would mean a full-time job paying up to $10.50 an hour.

The Social Welfare Board is the oldest free clinic in the United States. It serves 45-hundred patients a year. Board members and friends will celebrate the 100th anniversary Saturday night at the Fulkerson Center at Missouri Western State University.
