Emergency crews who responded to a home near Troy, Kansas in August were told that Matthew Sollars shot himself. Now, about two months later, murder charges have been filed in Sollars’ death.

Doniphan County Sheriff Chad Clary says 25-year-old Eric Burge was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder, discharging a firearm inside an occupied dwelling, and hosting a party with minors with cereal malt beverages.

 

Clary says Burge is being held in the Jerry K. Dubach Law Enforcement Center in Troy under $500,000 bond.

Burge is due back in court October 15 at 11am for a preliminary hearing on the charges.
