The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Wednesday it would close the Dewey Short Visitor Center until the partial shutdown is resolved. This is a change from an earlier decision that kept the center open.

The center is staffed by the nonprofit group, the Ozarks River Heritage Foundation. Sheila Thomas, executive director of foundation, says the group is prepared and capable of operating the center without help from the corps during the shutdown.

Other Army Corps-owned facilities around the lake were already closed.
