The three-day Pumpkinfest opens Friday evening at Patee Park in Saint Joseph. Organizer Carlene Makawski says one of the highlights of the festival is the lighting of Pumpkin Mountain. They’ll throw the switch to light up hundreds of pumpkins at 8 pm Friday and Saturday.

The festival opens at 5 pm Friday and entertainment begins at 6. Pumpkinfest reopens Saturday morning at 10 with registration for the Costume Parade. The Parade featuring hundreds of children begins at 11. Entertainment, activities, and food will be available until 10 pm Saturday, and again from noon to 5 Sunday.
