Kansas Turnpike  Authority

WICHITA, Kan. — Steve A. Hewitt has been named Director of Administration for the Kansas Turnpike Authority effective June 9.

“We’re pleased Steve will be part of the Turnpike’s executive staff,” said Mike King, Kansas Secretary of Transportation and Director of the Turnpike. “The leadership skills he honed during Greensburg’s disaster recovery will benefit the Turnpike’s continued efforts to provide high-quality transportation services to our customers for lowest reasonable cost.”

Hewitt comes to the Kansas Turnpike more than eight years of executive level public administrative experience including City Administrator of Greensburg, Kan. during the town’s disaster recovery efforts. More recently he served as the City Manager of Clinton, Okla.

“Steve’s track-record of implementing strategic and innovative projects that lead to expansion and growth will be a definite asset,” said King. “His collaborative spirit will lend itself well to our future direction.”

In Hewitt’s new role, he’ll oversee the administrative functions of the KTA including the areas of finance and human resources. “I’m very excited to get started,” said Hewitt. “This is an excellent opportunity for me and my family. KTA is an outstanding organization.”
