Fire caused extensive damage to an abandoned house at 1004 Sixth Ave. in St Joseph Sunday night. By Monday morning, officials had not yet identified the current owner of the property.

St. Joseph Fire Dept. Fire Inspector Jason Ziph says the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Mr. Ziph says the blaze caused about $30,000 damage to the house, which was worth an estimated $50,000.
Crews were dispatched at about 7 p.m., and upon their arrival the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Problems with a nearby fire hydrant forced firefighters to run hoses across St Joe Avenue during the effort. The high-visibility blaze was brought under control at about 8:15 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
