Sandra Dee Davis

3092426_wlppSandra Dee (Kennedy) Davis, 52, St. Joseph, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015.
She was born November 9, 1962, to Alice and James “Pete” Kennedy in Albany, Mo.
Sandra married Martin Davis on October 21, 1978, and to this union, three children were born.
Sandra was artistic. She enjoyed painting and drawing in her free time. After marriage, Sandra worked as a cook at the Holiday Inn and Snow White, in St. Joseph.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed the company of her grandchildren at each Sunday service.
She enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to cook and especially bake pies. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren, who she loved spending time with.
Sandra was a very caring mother, who did everything she could to care for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Michael Kennedy.
Sandra is survived by her loving family, including: children, Amber (Matt) Casada, of St. Joseph, Jeremy (Ashley) Davis, of Columbia, Mo., and Ceirra Wayne, of Seward, Alaksa; grandchildren, Quintin and Madeline Casada, of St. Joseph, Julia Wayne, of Seward, and Avery Davis, of Columbia; sisters, Angela (Robert) Embrey and Pamela (Tom) Geoffroy; brother, Bobby Kennedy, all of St. Joseph; numerous nieces and nephews, including Erica (Brandon) Flores, Dustin, Dylan and Danielle (Kai) Embrey and many others, who she loved dearly.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Rupp Funeral Home, in St. Joseph.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Interment will be Weatherman Cemetery, Guilford, Mo.
The family requests memorial contributions to the YWCA Women’s Shelter in St. Joseph.

Patricia S. Gorden
1921-2015

Gorden, Patricia obit photoPatricia S. Gorden, 94, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born February 4, 1921 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Patricia married Herbert Curtis Gorden on April 4, 1940 and he preceded her in death in August of 1976.
She was a graduate of Central High School and worked in the church nursery for 15 years at Wyatt Park Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary (Bowen) Sheridan; and sister, Frances Sheridan.
Survivors include daughter, Judy Jenkins (Rudy), of the home; and son, Mike Gorden (Mary), Benton, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Jeff Jenkins (Jonna), Patrick Jenkins (Amy), Chris Jenkins (Shannon), Susan Gorden (Ian), Ken Gorden (Suzette), and Angie Gardner (Harry); fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and other close family and friends.

William J. Fenner, Sr.
1920-2015

Fenner, William. stjoeobitphotoBill (Slick) Fenner, Sr, 95, Weatherby Lake, Missouri passed away Friday, May 1, 2015.
He was born March 19, 1920 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Bill married Carmen A. Persson on October 29, 1950, she preceded him in death on January 24, 2007.
He graduated from Central High School class of 1938 and in his younger years worked at Western Dairy. Bill proudly served in the Army Air Corps, during World War II as a Tech Sergeant. Upon his return he attended and graduated from the University of Missouri, where he was a member of Zeta Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Social Fraternity. He worked for Quaker Oats and following that he served as Vice President at Drew Chemical Company. He founded Star Blends in St. Joseph in 1964.
He was also preceded in death by his; parents, August and Elizabeth (Fonderman) Fenner; and daughter, Mary N. ?Poppy? Fenner; brothers, George, August and Richard Fenner; sisters, Elsie Fenner, Wessie Starbuck, Claire Tatum, Helen Shouse, and Dorthy Bland; and his dog Buddy.
Survivors include sons, Bill Fenner, Jr (Sandra K.) and James P. Fenner (Dominique); four grandchildren, Claire Fenner, Joseph Fenner, Christina McCain (Kelly), Elizabeth Fenner; and great-grandchildren, Jameson Fenner and Elizabeth Rose McCain.
He was a kind and generous father who loved his family, friends, employees and customers. He was a wonderful role model. Words cannot express how fortunate we were to have him as our Dad and Grandfather.

Marvin Donald Maxwell
(03/25/1940 – 05/02/2015)

Marvin Donald Maxwell, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his home.
Marvin was born on March 25, 1940 in St. Joseph to Clarence and Helen (Smygel) Maxwell.
He graduated from Central High School in 1958 and later received his LPN License. Following high school, Marvin joined the United States Army in 1963 where he served as a Medic and retired in 1979.
Marvin was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 571, St. Joseph General Assembly #569, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moila Shrine, VFW Post 6760 and American Legion # 359. He loved also fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Audrey Woods.
Marvin married Katherine Duke on January 6, 1989 in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Additional surviving family includes daughters, Tracey (Dale) Lindsey, Kansas City, Missouri; Barbara (Kevin) Sypniewski, Danville, California; Step-daughters, Sheila (Ryan) Tudor, St. Joseph, Missouri; and Margo (Chris) Mathewson, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sister, Myrtle Holland; brothers, Robert Maxwell and William Maxwell; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-laws.
Mr. Maxwell has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Memorial Mass 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday. Parish Rosary 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at our chapel. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
