(UPDATE)  A child suffered only minor injuries in St. Joseph Monday after being hit by a car.

The St. Joseph Police Department responded to 15th and Grand Avenue just after 7:30 Monday morning.

According to Capt. Jeff Wilson a 9-year-old girl was attempting to cross the intersection when she failed to see the oncoming vehicle, a 2009 Pontiac driven by a 57-year-old St. Joseph woman.  Wilson said crash reports indicate the child hit the side of the vehicle by the front passenger door.

“Turned around and ran back to the corner of the intersection and sat down on the ground complaining of left foot pain,” Wilson said.

He said the child was taken by private vehicle to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of minor injuries.

No tickets have been issued at this time.  Wilson said police are still investigating.
