UPDATE: Road closure update for northwest Missouri

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – U.S. Route 59 in Atchison County opened this afternoon after closing due to continued flooding across Northwest Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Route 59 closed between U.S. Route 136 and Route TT on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2015, due to flooding at the Tarkio River, but was able to reopen this afternoon to all traffic. Though the sun is out in Northwest Missouri today, heavy rains are expected across central and southern Missouri through the end of the week. Motorists are advised to consult the Traveler Information Map athttp://www.modot.org/ for the most up-to-date information on all road closures. MoDOT encourages everyone to pay attention to barricades and Turn Around! Don’t Drown!

The following routes are closed until further notice:

Andrew County

  • Route 48 on the east side of Rosendale (One Hundred and Two River)

Buchanan County

  • Route H between Agency and Johnson Road (Platte River)
  • Route C between U.S. Route 36 and Easton Saxton Road (Platte River)
