New city attorney named

city of st joseph seal logoThe city of St. Joseph announces that deputy city attorney Bryan Carter will be promoted to the position of city attorney effective Monday, September 21, 2015.

Bryan earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, and his Juris Doctorate from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.

He started with the city of St. Joseph in 2011, as an assistant city attorney, and was was promoted to deputy city attorney on November 17, 2014. His prior work experience was with the law firm of Kellogg & Palzer, P.C., in Omaha, Nebraska.

“Bryan has demonstrated a very good understanding of municipal law, shows good judgment, and has exceptional skills in dealing with the internal and external customers of the legal department. I have confidence that Bryan will continue to do exceptional work in his new position as city attorney,” said city manager Bruce Woody.

Mr Carter replaces Lisa Robertson who recently took a similar position with the city of Topeka, Kansas.
