A school bus rolled over in northeast Kansas early Wednesday morning injuring 23.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Report, 74-year-old Lawrence W. Gnagi of Hiawatha was driving the bus eastbound on 170th Road about 6.5 miles south of Hiawatha just after 7:30 a.m. For an unknown reason the bus failed to stop at the stop sign for U73 and as the driver tried to turn north onto U73 the bus left the roadway on the right and rolled over one time.
The 22 children on the bus ranged from the age of 5 to 17.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant Merchant said the students’ injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
They were taken to both Horton and Hiawatha hospitals for evaluation.
