Harold Eldon Ellis
1933-2015
Harold Eldon Ellis 82, of St.Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday December 6, 2015 at his home. He was born July 27, 1933 in Darlington, Missouri son of Lilly & Earl “Holt” Ellis. He married Juanita Mitchell Ellis in 1975. He worked in the housekeeping department at Heartland West hospital, and retired from Peach Tree Door as a door maker. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Souls Harbor Pentecostal church. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Robert, Jack, Junior, Kenneth and Donald Ellis, and three sisters, Eleanor Holmes, Ethel Ellis, and Edna Martin. He is survived by wife, Juanita Ellis of the home, three sons, Harold Ellis, Jr., Bert Ellis, and Louis (Pamela) Coon, two daughters, Brenda (Tom, Jr.) McNamara, and Loretta (Jerry) Gill all of St. Joseph, MO, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, brother, Ted (Betty) Ellis of St. Joseph, MO, and sister, Leota Martin of Birch Tree, MO, as well as his best friend and companion, dog Miley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Souls Harbor Pentecostal. Pastor JoAnn Springs officiating. Betty Lou McCarthy
1938-2015
Betty Lou McCarthy 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in a Saint Joseph, MO. health care center. She was born March 17, 1938 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Marjorie and John Kretzer. She graduated from Benton High School 1957 and retired from the St. Joseph School District at Hosea in nutrition service but most notably as the Crossing Guard on Alabama & Gordon streets for 42 years. She also worked at Scotty’s Liquors. She was a life long 238-er and very much enjoyed the South Side. She was a very giving person, never cussed, swore or gossiped. Betty was very active in the community as a member of many south side organizations such as: the South Side Business Women, South Side Progressive, South Side Fall Festival, (selected as Grand Marshall of the parade), Red Hat Lady and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom, step-father, Delmus Higdon, and brother, Marian “Coot” Kretzer. Survivors include, daughter, Nancy (Mark) Baber, son, Jon T. McCarthy (Ginger O’Roke), grandchildren, Jesica (Shawn) McCarthy, Amanda (Chad) Baber-Schultz, Jon (Ian) McCarthy, Sarah Baber, and Jake (Brooke) Baber, six great grandchildren, brother, Jerry “Pete” Kretzer of St. Joseph, MO, sister, Carolyn Curtis of St. Joseph, MO.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Shirley officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Alice Jeanette McGlothlin, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her home.
She was born April 16, 1932 in Altamont, Missouri.
Alice married Harold W. McGlothlin on January 8, 1951.
She liked to embroider, cook and bake.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Stella (Conover) Williams; brothers, Harvey, Harley and Harold Williams; and sister, Dorothy Richardson.
Survivors include husband; son, Harold W. McGlothlin II (Marsha); daughter, LaRonda McGlothlin; granddaughter, Cassie White (Jacob); grand puppy, Daricee, all of St. Joseph, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherrel Lynn Pfeifer 69, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in Saint Joseph, MO. She was born October 22, 1946 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of IlaVerne and Harold Watson. She was a proud 1964 graduate of Benton High School. She South Western Bell switch board operator, then worked at Missouri Methodist Medical center and Heartland Hospital in the billing department. She had a heart of gold and was a loving mother and proud grandmother. She loved to go to the Riverboat, to watch the Game Show Network, soap operas, and Duck Dynasty on TV. She was a member of the former King Hill United Methodist Church. Sherrel was preceded in death by her parents, and former husband, Kieran Pfeifer. Survivors include, daughters: Lori (Audria Tucker) Smith of Kansas City, MO, and Tracie (Jeff) Larkin of Columbia, MO, son, Chad C. (Michele Mickie) Pfeifer of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren; Dakota, Colton, & Caedyn Pfeifer, Jillian & Mason Larkin, step-grandchildren; Shelby and Tyson, and her sister, Marilyn (George) Rajca.

Shirley Ann Hay 80, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday December 8, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 9, 1935 in Frazier, Missouri daughter of Adelaide & James Wright. She graduated from Faucett High School 1954, then married Robert Hay on June 26, 1954. She retired from Beneficial Finance after 26 1/2 years of service, and also was the co-owner with her family of Studio B Formal Wear for 18 years. She was a beloved mother. We were raised in church, with a strong faith of good values. She was the Apple Blossom 1st runner up in 1954, and a member Huffman United Methodist Church. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hay, her parents, two brothers, James Wright, and Larry Wright, and three sisters, Mary Lou McClain, Edna Hensley, and Linda Ficklin. She is survived by children: Teresa (J.B.) Stanton, Bobby (Kit) Hay of St. Joseph, MO, Kimberly (Kevin) Schalley of Smithville, MO. Grandchildren: Ryan (Crystal) Wilson, Jeff (Raynae) Wilson, Katie Schalley, Dalton Hay, and Darby Hay, five great grandchildren, and a sister, Jeanette Richey of St. Joseph, MO. The Family will receive friends & relatives, from 11am -12 Noon with a memorial service to be conducted Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Rupp Funeral Home. David Mejia Officiating.
