A St. Joseph teenager was killed in a one vehicle crash in Andrew County Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Darren Richardson, 16 was killed in a crash about 1/2 mile southwest of Savannah Wednesday and McKenzie Ishmael, 16 of Savannah was seriously injured. The reports said the crash happened as the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix was westbound on County Road 366 about 1 mile west of route DD around 11:27 p.m. when Richardson lost control of the vehicle and tried to over-correct causing the vehicle to travel off the north side of the road. The vehicle driver’s side hit a tree and came to rest facing west on its wheels off the north side of the road. Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene. Ishmael was transported by Andrew County EMS to Mosaic Life Care.
Neither Ishmael nor Richardson were reported to be wearing their seat belts.
