(Update) – A St. Joseph man has been charged in connection with the shooting death of his neighbor last month.
Lonald R. Ueligger, Sr., 51 was charged Wednesday in Buchanan County with felonies for voluntary manslaughter, and armed criminal action.
As we previously reported, authorities found a man dead June 24 on Dover St. who was identified by police as Perry Smith, 54 of St. Joseph.

Court documents revealed little information into the case but said according to police reports statements and evidence collected Ueligger caused the death of Perry Smith by intentionally shooting him at 2922 Dover.
“The defendant shot and killed PS, who he has been neighbors with for 30 years,” said Det. Frank Till with the St. Joseph Police Department.
The charge of voluntary manslaughter carries a sentence range of 5-15 years, armed criminal action carries a minimum of three years to an unlimited number of years.
Online court document show Ueligger is now scheduled for an arraignment for Friday morning after being rescheduled. Bond has been set at $25,000.
