(Salina Post) PRATT – Law enforcement authorities in Pratt County are investigating a second wind farm accident this week.
Just after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office and Pratt County Emergency Services were dispatched to a work place accident at the Wind Farm 7 miles east and 4 ½ miles south of Pratt.
A 26-year-old man suffered a severe head wound. He was approximately 100 feet above the ground inside the tower, when a 4 pound bolt, approximately 10 inches long fell from over 100 feet above and hit him in the head, knocking him unconscious.
Other workers on the scene were able to lower him to the ground, where he regained consciousness. The injured worker was not wearing a helmet according to witnesses at the scene.
The man was transported to the Kingman hospital by Pratt County Emergency Services and a medical helicopter transported him to a Wichita area hospital.
Name of the injured worker has not been released.
On Sunday, a worker fell approximately 126 feet and landed on his back in the mud. He remains hospitalized.
