Two people were injured in a dump truck and trash truck collision on Route O Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34-year-old Brandon D. Shafer of St. Joseph was driving the dump truck east on Route O about three miles south of St. Joseph around 11 a.m. when the vehicle traveled off the side of the road and began to slide. When Shafer brought the vehicle back on the roadway, it crossed the center line and struck a trash truck head on. The driver of the trash truck, 63-year-old Albert B. Reinert of St. Joseph was transported to Mosaic Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger with Reinhert, 40-year-old Donald T. Henderson was transported with minor injuries.
As previously reported, Route O was shut down for about two hours while emergency crews responded to the crash.
