V. Maxine Deatherage

V. Maxine Deatherage, 95, St. Joseph, Missouri went to be with her family on Monday, January 23, 2017.
She was born February 8, 1921 in Camden Point, Missouri to William and Emma (Cozad) Stubbs, they preceded her in death.
Maxine married Wayne L. Deatherage December 31, 1970, he preceded her in death on April 9, 1997.
She enjoyed basketball and never missed a day of school.
She was also preceded in death by daughters, Georgia Rader and Rebecca Groshong; siblings, Sarah Frisbie, Berthie Hershley and Delbert Stubbs.
Survivors include brother, Bob Stubbs (Mary); sister, Bessie Frisbie; grandchildren, Brigitte Selecman (Billy), who was her primary caregiver, Robbie Brown (Rachel), Brooke Bussell (Kenny), Deveren Blair (Georgeann); great-grandchildren, Ashley Selecman (Joe), Jason Selecman (Jackie), Tyler Bussell, Drew and Dalen Blair; great-great grandchildren, Avery and Kiley Miester, Lainie and Joshalin Sill.

Floyd “Mike” Peak
1943-2017
Floyd W. “Mike” Peak, 73, Atchison, Kansas died unexpectedly Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in the Alderson Cemetery, west of Atchison. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Floyd was born March 22, 1943 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Asa W. and Edna Clark Peak. He attended schools in Atchison, graduating from Atchison High School in 1961.
He was formerly employed at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas then returned to Atchison where he worked as a machinist and in maintenance for Rockwell International for over twenty five years until his retirement.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mike enjoyed woodworking and making several pieces of furniture, reading, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a sister, Rita M. Watowa, Atchison, KS; two brothers, Robert “Bob” (Teresa) Peak, Atchison, KS; Richard “Dick” Peak, Udall, KS.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Marie Peak; three brothers, Gary Peak, Lloyd Peak and Asa Warden Peak, Jr, and a sister-in-law, Pam Peak.
Mary Lou Diebolt
1921-2017
Mary Lou Diebolt, homemaker and retired retailer, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at her home in Lake Waukomis, MO at the age of 95.
Private funeral services will be held with interment in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The final arrangements have been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas.
Mary Lou was born September 26, 1921 in Moline, Kansas the daughter of William Francis and Nellie May Hill.
She worked as an executive secretary at Beechcraft during World War II. Mary Lou and her husband moved to Atchison, KS where Mr. Diebolt opened the Diebolt Clothing Co. in 1962. Mrs. Diebolt took over Diebolt’s women’s department and ran it until it closed in 1985.
She was a member of St. Benedict’s Church in Atchison.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Carol (Daniel) Garrity of Lake Waukomis, Judith Diebolt of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI a son, Timothy (Deanna) Diebolt of Leawood. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Lydia Diebolt, Rebecca Diebolt Hever, Kelly Garrity Bieri and three great grandchildren.
David Wayne Dennis
1964-2017
David Wayne Dennis 52, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born May 17, 1964 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Betty Ann and Fred Dennis Sr. He graduated from Central High School and was proud of his participation in the ROTC. He worked at Specialty Industries for 32 years, enjoyed the Kansas City Royals, and Chiefs football. He was an organ donor, and was involved with the Special Olympics. David was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Donna Jean Dennis, 2 brother in laws, Ronald Parton, and Earl Vandrift. Survivors include, brother, Fred (Cindy) Dennis Jr. of Rosendale, MO, five sisters, Virginia (David) Grippando, Phyllis (Bob) Wood of St. Joseph, MO, Eva May (Frank) Wood, Neva Kay Vandgrift of Clarksdale, MO, and Kathy (Tommie) Edwards of Saint Joseph, MO, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, at the Rupp Funeral Home, funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Friday, at the Rupp Funeral Home, the inurnment will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, at the Ashland Cemetery. Carmen Marie Torres
1940-2014
Carmen Marie Torres 76, of Saint Joseph, MO., passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Saint Joseph, MO health care center. She was born April 2, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Natividad “Nettie” and Jose Torres. She attended the Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary, was a homemaker who enjoyed volunteering at Interserv, and at the Good Will. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Dorothy King, and a brother, Jose Torres, Jr. Survivors include sisters, Patricia Mesino, Matilda “Tillie” Davis, Margaret Wilson, and Genevieve “Jennie” Mozier, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 10:00 am at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fr. Chuck Tobin Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm, Friday with the family to receive friends until 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
