The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has received a donation of bullet proof vests for nine deputies.

According the Sheriff John Merchant, the “Point Blank” vests were donated by the United State Deputy Sheriffs Association. He said if the office were to have purchased the vests the retail value would be well over $6,000.

“These vests will replace old, outdated vests that could compromise the safety of our deputies,” Merchant said. “We have established a great partnership with USDSA over the past 9 years as they have provided other equipment as well as training on officer survival and defense tactics.”
