A St. Joseph man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting Monday night.

According to police, 35-year-old Jessie Lee Nelson is charged with second degree murder after the shooting that killed 29-year-old Mack D. Jenkins and injured another man.

As previously reported, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Henry Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. Monday in reference to shots being fired and a crash. According to court documents, after the victim’s vehicle crashed into several parked cars, Nelson, the driver of another car, got out of his vehicle, walked to the other vehicle and fired several shots.

Nelson is being held on $250,000 bond. An arraignment is scheduled for Friday.
