Northwest Missouri volleyball loses in three to Southwest Baptist

The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats (9-12, 3-5 MIAA) were defeated by the Southwest Baptist Bearcats (9-14, 4-7 MIAA) 3-0 Friday night at Bearcat Arena.

Northwest pushed Southwest Baptist in the final two sets, but the purple Bearcats would rally to win in straight sets 25-23, 26-24, and 29-27.

Senior setter Laira Akin continued her great season for Northwest recording 45 of the Bearcat’s 52 assists in the match.  Akin also contributed eight digs in the loss.

Alex Hanna and Brooke Bartosh would propel the Northwest attack recording a combined 26 kills.  As a team the Bearcats hit a combined .324, a season high.

Junior Tori Beckman led Northwest with 14 digs.

Kylie Heim lead the Southwest Baptist attack contributing 12 kills and a .512 hitting percentage in the win.  Britni Reed pitched in 10 kills respectively.  As a team, the Southwest Baptist Bearcats hit .324.
