(UPDATED) – Stockyards Expressway was shutdown Tuesday morning after a semi took a turn too sharp causing some issues.
Doug Loehner with the St. Joseph Police Department said around 7:30 a.m. the 43-year-old man driving the semi tried to make a turn onto US-759 in the 2700 block but turned too tight and hit a support which took one of the semi’s tires of the wheel and knocked down a power line.
Originally the report the semi had been believed to have ruptured a gas main.
“They thought the gas main was hit but it was not it was air coming out of the tire,” Loehner said.
Southbound traffic was diverted at Oak and Hickey streets for about an hour.
The driver was issued a ticket for improper method of turn.
