ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Funding to improve roadway safety will be granted once again in northwest Missouri as part of an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities.
The Northwest Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety will be granting funds for the sixth year to interested applicants as part of the agency’s efforts in 20 counties in northwest Missouri.
“We’re working towards zero fatalities on Northwest Missouri roadways,” says Marcia Johnson, director of the coalition’s Northwest Region. “We have some great agencies and organizations around our region working with us towards that very achievable goal and the grant program is a way to help them complete programs that may otherwise have to be shelved due to lack of funding.”
Organizations eligible to apply for these funds include schools, community groups, law enforcement, health departments, and others. Online grant applications are available at http://savemolives.com/regions-connect/northwest.
To be eligible for the grants, programs must address at least one of the Blueprint-identified emphasis areas including serious crash types, high-risk drivers and occupants, special vehicles, vulnerable roadway users, and special roadway environments.
Completed applications are due by the close of business on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, with award announcements in January. All awarded funds must be spent by June 15, 2016.
