More checkpoints planned in Platte County

Platte County Sheriff patch jpgThe Platte County Sheriff’s Office said it could once again be conducting sobriety checkpoints throughout another month.

The office announced it could conduct the checkpoints throughout the month of November. The office has held checkpoints nearly every months since April.

Sheriff Mark Owen said motorists who encounter a DWI Checkpoint will experience only a brief delay.

“We appreciate the cooperation from the public as we conduct DWI Checkpoints and take drunk drivers off our roads,” said Sheriff Owen.

If a driver is suspected of being intoxicated, he/she will be asked to complete the Standard Field Sobriety Tests. Any driver found to be impaired will be arrested and transported to the Platte County Detention Center.
