A man has been charged after two men allegedly followed a stolen vehicle and held the driver until police arrived.
David Bunton III is charged in Buchanan County with a class-D felony of tampering with service of utility or institution.
According to court documents, on Wednesday a witness reported to the St. Joseph Police Department that he and the victim of a stolen truck had a man who stole the vehicle detained. Det. Doug Howard said the man told police they caught Bunton after pursuing the vehicle until he got out and fled on foot. Bunton was transported to Mosaic Life Care after officers arrived on scene.
Det. Howard said in the probable cause statement, that video from a convenience store placed Bunton in the stolen vehicle earlier that day.
Bunton is currently being held on $10,000 cash only bail. He’s due in court Friday for an arraignment.
