Shirley Ann (Wilfong) Fanning, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. She was born March 29, 1946 to Frank and Helen Wilfong in St. Joseph, Missouri. Shirley married Larry DeWayne Fanning on April 19, 1963 in Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2010. She enjoyed being on a bowling league with her friends from Snow White Restaurant, where she was a cook. Mrs. Fanning was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; son, Larry D. Fanning; grandson, Darryl A. Kelley, Jr; brothers, Henry Smith (Joyce), Wilbur Smith, Frank Wilfong, Jr. (Velma); sisters, Betty Wilfong and Maxine Ewing. Survivors: daughters, Cassie Turner (Al), St. Joseph, Missouri and Kellie Fanning, St. Joseph, Missouri; son, Frank Fanning, St. Joseph, Missouri; grandsons, Shawn Fanning, DeWayne Fanning, Brenden Fanning, and Jayden Shepherd; granddaughters, Helen Fanning, Kimberly Fanning, Kiley Fanning, and Maelyn Fanning; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Lester Smith, Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law, Ronald Fanning, St. Joseph, Missouri; and two long lost sisters, Roberta and Wanda Lou. Bernice V. Leuck

Bernice V. Leuck, 96, Kansas City, Missouri died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at New Mark Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Born in Fowler, Indiana, on December 15, 1916, to Roy and Alice (Deno) Vetter, she lived most of her life in Indiana until moving to Kansas City in 2002. Bernice worked for Indiana Bell from 1935 through Word War II. She was married to Clifford Leuck on November 18, 1942, and returned to work for Bell/General Telephone in 1960 and retired in 1981. She continued to be active with the Telephone Pioneers after her retirement. She will be remembered as hard-working, with a passion for gardening and tending to her roses. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Kansas City. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband; and two daughters, Kathleen Muller and Cheryl Scherer. Survivors include a son; David Leuck, Pinehurst, North Carolina; daughter, Elaine Laun, Kansas City, Missouri; sister; Elmorita Besse, Fowler, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be held in Indiana at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Mrs. Leuck was a member of the Missouri Cremation Service.
